He frowned a little. "I'm...not really sure. Maybe I see a bit of myself in you, I don't know. I just...really want to help you. I feel compelled to do so. For some reason, the idea of you ending up like some people do...it disturbs me more than it usually does. I don't know what else to say. Why is 'mother's stupid boyfriend' a nutjob?" He laid down sideways on the bed he was on, head resting on his hand, propped on his elbow so he could see her.

Continuing to play with the hem of her hoddie she shrugged slightly "Dunno....Guess 'cause he gets drunk....They both do....But he gets violent...Not with her though, never with her..." Sammie said shrugging again, rubbing her eyes she glanced at him with a slight laugh "His half the reason I am sitting here, on this bed having this talk with you" she added.

Looking at the ceiling she nibbled on her right index finger thinking for a moment and she gave a slight laugh "I remeber once when I was a kid Joe....My Mum's boyfriend bought me a toy pony....But he got drunk so I put it in a blender and he wasn't very impressed with that" she said grinning.

He raised an eyebrow. "Ah. I got ya. So a dumb ass gets drunk and thinks it's alright to beat on his girlfriends daughter. Classy guy. Kudos on sticking the pony in a blender. If it was plastic though, you shoulda stuck it in the microwave. Then it melts and makes the clean up damn near impossible. And you forgot to ask a question, so I won't ask one till you do. Wanna be fair to you, since you are being rather cooperative for now."

"Yeah....You can say his classy" Sammie muttered and shrugged "Um...Why'd you cut yourself?" she asked looking at him with a slight frown. "I can shut up and stop answering your questions" Sammie muttered rolling her eyes slightly, feeling hungry she reached into her bag and pulled out a chocolate bar and started to slowly eat it.

Rubbing the back of her neck she pulled off her hoddie and dropped it onto her bag, laying down on her bed she stared at the ceiling before she turned her head to the side looking at him as she continued to eat her chocolate.

He actually hesitated on that last question, seeming reluctant to answer, but finally sighed. "I was grieving, but also felt I deserved to be punished. I cut myself to punish myself, but also to distract myself from the pain of what I lost. I'm sure also saw that bigger scar." He shrugged. "Sometimes, I felt cutting wasn't enough of a punishment, nor enough of a relief." His eyes met hers. "If you could say one thing to any person, without consequence, what would you say, and to who?"

Smiling slightly she thought for a moment before she spoke "I would tell Joe that I hate him soo much and wished he'd die and...." Sammie said softly, sitting up abruptly she got off the bed she mumbeled something before she walked into the bathroom shutting the door behind herself. Locking it she leaned against it for a moment before she walked to the sink and looked at herself in the mirror.

Slipping a hand into her pocket she felt the blade, closing her eyes she breathed deeply and took her hand out of her pocket. Turning the water on she cupped her hands catching some water and splashed it on her face 'Damnit! Why did I even say that? Ah I'm soo stupid! she thought to herself as she looked at her reflection that was looking straight back at her.

Splashing some more water on her face she grabbed a towle and whiped it off. Looking at the door in the mirror she nibbled on her bottom lip wondering how long she could stall being in the bathroom.

"Wished he'd die and.....? You know, stalling will do you no good." It tended to drive people crazy when he seemed to know exactly what a person was thinking. "And if it helps, I'll repeat again. Nothing you say if being reported unless you say it's alright. So even if you say something and then he were to die, it wouldn't be connected to you. And I wouldn't say anything. And no, I'm not accusing you of anything, I'm giving an example." He yawned a bit. "So go ahead and finish the sentence. Please." THere was a long pause.

"If you calm down, come back in her, and finish what you were saying, HONESTLY, then you can ask me any TWO questions this turn, and no matter what the question, I'll answer it honestly."

Turning around Sammie sat on top of the counter "No! I'm not coming back out so you can just go away! I'm sick of playing this stupid back and forth question stuff....Don't you have some boring paperwork to do? I mean there are other people here besides me!" she called to him sounding annoyed.

She had told her Mother's boyfriend that once but it only ended in her being hit every time he saw her, wincing at the memory she ran her hands along to top of the counter as she swung her legs slightly making them hit the cupboard, "And sorry my honesty meter has reached it's peak for the day come back tomorrow" she snarled.

For several moments, there was silence, and it almost seemed he had left. And then he spoke, apparently from just outside the door. "When I was six, my father was arrested and sentenced to death. One count of sexually assaulting a minor, two counts of child pornography, two counts of murder." Another pause. "I still blame myself for the whole thing. Good night, Sammie. I'll see you tomorrow." And he left it at that, leaving the cabin, feeling he needed a good stiff drink, and feeling very glad that the counselors each had their own cabin.

Hearing what he said she stared at the floor in shock, getting off the counter she unlocked the door and saw that he was gone and everyone who was in the dorm was coming in. Moving out of the bathroom she let a few girls use the bathroom, talking with two she heard a girl insult her.

Biting the inside of her cheek she grabbed her PJ's and walked into the bathroom, slamming the door closed and locked it. Taking a shower she got changed, still being able to her the same girl that was rude to her she could still hear the insults. Grabbing her jeans she pulled out the blade.

Holding her arms over the sink she did three deep cuts on both of her wrists, crying she didn't care if any of them heard her. Dropping the blade into the sink she heard someone running out of the room as people banged on the door "Go away!" she screamed at the top of her lungs tears pouring down her cheeks.

The girl that had left had gone to get Sax, reaching his cabin she knoced on his door "Somethings wrong with that Sammie chick, she's locked herself in the bathroom and wont come out" the girl called.

Sammie slid down to the floor leaning agianst the counter feeling dizzy from the loss of blood.

Sax quickly followed the girl back, not really caring that he was only in his jeans. He moved quickly into the cabin, ignoring the fact that the girls were noticing the scars, both on his arms and across his stomach and chest. He paused at the door to the bathroom, about to unlock it, then turned a glare on the girls. "Do not talk about this. This is her business, noone elses, understand me?" He then unlocked the door, slipped inside, and relocked the door. He then turned to Sammie, and winced. "Sammie..."

He came over to her, and pulled her to the feet, turning her to face the sink. He used his body to pin her down as he turned on the faucet and pulled her arms under the flow of water. He grabbed a towel from next to one of the showers, and grabbed the razore from the sink, using it to rip through the towel, cutting his fingers badly in the process. He wrapped her arms tightly with the two halves, and then pulled her pajama sleeves down over it, then grabbed her shirt and made her put that on as well, to somewhat hide things.

He rinsed the blood from the sink, then pocketed the razor. He unlocked the door, and led her out quickly, the look on his face discouraging questions. He led her to the on-site clinic, which was currently locked up. Again, he unlocked it, led her in, and made her sit while he got some gauze and antiseptic. He didn't say a word, his fingers still bleeding.

As soon as the water hit her ripped skin she started crying again she tried to pull her arms back "Let go" she whimpered. As he lead her out of the bathroom she kept her head down not bothering to say anything to him at all, as she sat where he had left her she pulled up her sleeves and looked at the blood soaked cloth her face staying blank "Your fingers....Th-They are still bleeding...." she mumbeled.

Sniffing slightly she knew her face was blotchy from crying, pulling the halves of the towel off her arms she bit her bottom lip and looked at the three neat cuts on her wrists. She had never cut herself so bad before, standing up she glanced in the direction he had gone and she pulled her sleeves down "They aren't as bad as they look" she said softly and started towards the door.

"Y-You should patch yourself up" she mumbeled her right hand sitting on the door handel and she slowly started to turn it so she could go.

His hand was suddenly on her shoulder, and he had a tight grip. "You seem to forget that I know all about cutting myself, Sammie." He was angry, and it showed clearly. "I've done worse to myself on purpose than what I've done to my fingers today. And your arms need to be bandaged." He pulled her back, making he sit again. He pulled her sleeves back up, and began cleaning the cuts, knwoing full well that it stung and not caring, and then got to work wrapping her arms in the gauze. "You are lucky these aren't bad enough that they need stitches, because I know how to do that too, but we don't have anything to numb the pain."

He was silent after that, until he finished bandaging her arms. Then his eyes met hers. His eyes were a rich golden color, with, oddly, a bit of black around the iris. "Why did you do this, Sammie? What made you suddenly take this further than before? And tell the truth!"

Whimpering as he cleaned the cuts she stopped herself from trying to pull away from him "Your sadistic you know that?" she snapped after he bandaged her arms. Turning her head away from him she didn't answer him for a while leaving a thick enough silence that she could hear him breathing.

Closing her eyes she kept her head turned away from him "Nothing....It doesn't matter it wont happen again....It was a stupid spur of the moment thing, it wont happen again I swear" she said softly and turned her head to look him in the eyes firmly "Can I go back now?" she asked stiffly not liking the fact that he was, as she saw it, being crule.

His expression softened, and he suddenly just looked...tired. "I'm sorry for yelling. And for being a bit less than gentle. I was just upset. I didn't like what I saw in there, Sammie...It was....eerie. Too similar to...I was worried about you, okay? When that...rude girl came and told me you'd locked yourself in the bathroom, I just...knew you'd cut yourself, and it scared me. The very last time I cut myself, I was trying to truly end my life. I...don't want you to die, Sammie, or to try and kill yourself, or hurt yourself...."

He ran his fingers through his hair, still disregarding the fact that he wasn't wearing a shirt. He usually never let anyone see him without a long sleeve shirt on. He had a nice body, well toned, you could say, but he was ashamed of his scars, both on his arms and chest and stomach. "I'm sorry for not being more considerate of your feelings, Sammie. It won't happen again. I just...panic, I..." He stopped, and took a deep breath, trying to calm down. "Sammie. Can you please tell me what happened?"

Looking at him properly Sammie ran a hand through her hair her eyes darting to take in all of his scares quickly and then back to his face, and she shrugged her eyes brimming with tears. "I-I don't really want to talk about it...." she said softly, getting to her feet she moved away from him.

Putting her back to him she rubbed her eyes the tears falling silently down her cheeks again "It doesn't m-matter....As I said it w-wont happen again" she whimpered keeping her back to him as she wrapped her arms around her stomach comforting herself.

"I'm sorry to make you worry" she whispered before she jogged to the door, pulling it open she ran outside pulling her sleeves down she reached her cabin and walked in glancing at a few of the girls she climbed into her bed and pulled the blankets around herself listening as they whispered.

A few of the girls had gone outside to continue insulting her where she couldn't hear them at all.

Sax sat there for a long moment, staring at the blood dripping from his fingers. Finally, he cleaned up, and left, after having bandaged his fingers a bit. He went to his cabin, and slipped into his bed, staring at the picture on the bedside table for a long time. Eventually, he shut off the light, and went to sleep.

The next day, the 'group counseling session' started up, and he sat waiting for everyone to show up. He wanted Sammie to show, even if she didn't say anything. He HAD to do the group thing, and he didn't like the idea of her being alone for too long.

Sammie had told a few girls that she would follow them to the session, sitting on the edge of her bed fully dressed she played with her hooddie for a little while thinking on weather or not she should go. Sighing she got up and walked out of the cabin, shoving her hands into her pockets she walked to where the session was.

Reaching them she sat down not looking at anyone but instead chose to look everywhere else, getting comfortable she glanced at Sax slightly she looked paler then normal her eyes looking dull from all of the crying she had done the night before, playing with the necklace she now wore she ran a hand through her hair to keep it away from her face.

Sax was listening to the other girls talk, but he would often glance at Sammie when nobody else was looking his direction. They moved along the line, and finally it came to Sammie. He doubted she'd speak, but he had to be fair. "If you'd like to say anything, feel free Sammie. If not, that's fine." He would push her when it was just the two of them, but not in front of others. He didn't want to embarrass her or put her on the spot.

Not bothering to look up Sammie rubbed the back of her neck and shrugged slightly "Nothing really to share...." she muttered and dropped her hand and stuffed her hands into the pockets of her hoodie her wrists were aching from she had done the night before.

Sighing she got to her feet, not bothering to excuse herself she walked away from the session and headed to the food hall, grabbing a glass of water she walked over to the table she had sat at the day before she sat down and comfortable.

Sliding her water from hand to hand again she stared at it thinking things over in her head not really seeming in the mood to talk to anyone at all.

Of course, she had to expect that Sax would, once again, sit down at her table. He had yet another apple. "S'up, Sammie." He seemed disinterested, but she likely knew he wasn't. She was a fairly intelligent girl, from his estimations. "Your arms don't hurt too much, do they Sammie?" He was intentionally being a bit less teasing and annoying this time. He was naturally one to tease, but he'd back off if necessary. He wanted to make sure she was alright, and it was hard to hide his concern for her.

He still wasn't sure why he was so hung up on her. Something about her just, as he put it, compelled him to do the things he did.

Glancing at him Sammie gave a slight shurg as her attention moved back to her water "I'll live...." she muttered as she continued playing with the glass, "Do your fingers hurt?" she asked softly. Picking up her glass she sipped the water, putting the glass back on the table she lounged back in her chair her arms crossed lightly over her stomach.

"Can I have my razor back?" she asked so only he could hear, running a hand through her hair she watched him the top right side of her hoodie slipping down her shoulder showing a lot more of her tank top and her arm. Not bothering to adjust it she seemed slightly out of it as she uncrossed her arms and placed them on the table again tugging at the sleeves of her hoodie.

Looking down at her hands she listened to everyone else in the room, looking up she noticed a lot had finnished eating and were going outside with their counselor's to play a few interacting games. Lounging more into her seat she looked back at Sax a bored look settling on her face.

He grinned in response to her question about his fingers. "I'll live." She said it, so he could say it. Sort of teasing, sure, but it didn't matter. "As to your question about the razor...maybe. I'm thinking about it." He chuckled a bit. "Shocking, huh? I'm supposed to be stopping you from doing drugs or hurting yourself, and yet I'm not taking them away." He leaned forward a bit, smiling sweetly. "So, you want it back. What is it worth to you? Fair trade, after all. And don't worry about following the others, we can do as we please right now."

Sammie raised an eyebrow as she looked at Sax, he had to be pulling her leg. Sighing she crossed her arms over her stomach a slight flicker of pain crossing her face but passed quickly before she shrugge "I dunno...I just want it....But let me guess before I even lay a finger on it you want to know why I did what I did last night right?" she asked.

Running a hand through her hair she messed it up more before she picked up her water and sipped it slowly, putting the glass down she looked at Sax full on before she turned side ways on the seat her back pressed against the wall comfortably.

He was still grinning, watching her. "True, I DO want to know why you did it. But again, I asked what you were willing to offer. Offer something in exchange. Fair trade. Most things are not free, Sammie. It's about balance. You must offer me something that is just as valuable to you as this razor," and he pulled it out of his pocket with his injured hand, as if to make his next point, "and all the damage it causes. So, Sammie, what will it be? If you want it back, you will have to give me something that is just as important to you." He was twirling the blade around his fingers skillfully.
