"Tates, Yalty is right," she spoke up, and though her voice was was barely above a whisper it was strong and forceful. As much as she hated to admit it, she was not ready to leave just yet--and even if Tates could withstand the enormous blizzard, she and Yalty were not so accustomed to the snow.

"As hindered as we are by this storm, our pursuers are just as trapped," she explained. "It would be foolish for us to leave now. While it would give us an immediate advantage, but lack of strength would soon leave us overcome with fatigue. Even Gods have their limits," she added, her last words bringing a soft smile to her face. She wondered if Tates had realized just how accustomed to the chilly weather he really was.

He frowned, looking back over at yalty before sighing, hessitating before he removed his sword. "fine." he said.

Yalty grinned, salting and putting the meat into the dryer- all the while wearing asmall triumphant grin. He hated the cold.....

Tates sat down again next to the priestess, going to pet the cat only to be hissed at and swatted."Ow- stupid..." he glared at he cat poping his hand into his mouth. "Yalty- cant you get rid of this thing?" he asked.

"No Tates. Blikka stays." the man replied sounding amused.

"..." tates looked up at the priestess, running his hand through his hair to push it out of his face. "We can cut your hair if you woudl like." he offered, clearly bord. and he had just woken up.

Chasianna's eyes flew open at his words, and she jolted upward a bit, startling poor Blikka and earning a yowl of protest from the kitty. That's right. They were going to cut her hair.

Her hair had not been cut since she had been chosen to become High Priestess to Moren, a symbol of purity and naturality--her hair, just like any other being was living, and thus was left growing and untouched. It was over four feet long, reaching just above the back of her calves if allowed to flow freely down her back.

Although she was no longer priestess to the God of Life, she had grown accustomed to having her hair so long--it was comforting and familiar, and in all this chaos it set her at ease. She wanted anything but to part with it though she knew what had to be done. She had forced herself to come to terms with it a while ago.

"Yes, now would be a good time. We do not know when the next chance to rest will be given to us," she forced out, though the weakness of her voice did not match her words. To be completely honest, not only had Chasianna grown fond of her long hair, she was also fearful of the consequences that were to come for defiling the symbol she carried, the symbol of life.

It would be the ultimate betrayal.

"If you dont want o cut it- dont." tates said simply, wrapping the blanket arond himself again. he wasnt cold- but he liked it. "We can pin it up inder hat and noone would know." he pointed out.

Blikka hissed at tates, not liking the man being so close to his new sofa.

raising an eebrow tates hissed back dully- like he was drawing out an s.

The feline pinned its ears and settled back into the priestess' lap.

"No," Chasianna replied, though it was much more forcefully than she had intended, and she immediately flushed with embarrassment. "I mean, we have to cut it. It is something I must part with," she bit her lip, unable to gaze Tates directly in the eyes. She instead rested her eyes on the feline in her lap, ignoring the hisses being passed between the two of them.

"In any case, my hair is too long to pin under a hat. There is too much of it. I have no other choice but to cut it..."

"We could bleach it." yalty sugested.

"... PLease no." tates frowned, rubbing his hands. "... Ill set the bath up fo ryou. get washed and then Ill ut your hair."

Chasianna nodded in thanks and fought against the frown that tugged at the side of her lips--as well as the tears that were beginning to well up in her eyes. How silly she was acting. It was only hair, after all! Still, it had become a part of her and she was reluctant to part ways with it. Also, such a betrayal frightened her--she did not know if the God would lash out in anger.

Removing her ponytail would be removing that part of her life and making room for an entirely different chapter. In a way, actually, it was a bit exciting--and what was adventure without a little fear?

She repeated that over and over again in her mind until the tears dissipated, and she could open her eyes without having to worry about Yalty or Tates noticing her discontent.

When she opened her eyes though- tates was right there. Watching her silently. Intensly.

"If your afraid of the Life god- think of it this way. Your friends with the son of Vointa." he said glancing to Yalty. Vointa- the goddess of good fourtine and wisdome.

Tates stood and walked off to go prepar her bath, getting a dirty look form Yalty. "I dont go telling people your herritage." he accused.

"Because we dontknow it." Tates countered simply as he made his way upstairs.

Vointa! He was not just a decendant, but the son of the goddess herself?? Chasianna's jaw dropped and she atared at Yalty in amazement. She was surrounded by Gods!

As Tates exited the room, Chasianna regained a fraction of her composure, and she was able to form a few coherent words.

"Vointa...and Neve. Amazing," she breathed out, her voice barely above a whisper as she fought against her tightened throat. Such an honor it was to be in their company.

"Neve?" yalty repeated. "I wouldnt let tates hear you say that name. It woudl rue bad for him..." he stated. "As for my mother- I am only a demi god. my father was human.... theres no need to be so thunderstruck, priestess." he smiled kindly.

"Rue bad for him?" she repeated slowly, the words struggling to fall from her tongue. Whether he believed it anything worth the expression on her face, she thought otherwise.

Demi-God or not, there was still higher blood that ran through his veins.

"Neve, the snow God. He was cast out of the heavens." yalty said. "Most gods didnt like or rather approve of him.... it would be like asking an orphan to remeber how he lost his parents.... and should tates rememer he IS the snow gods reincarnation.... Hell have lot more enemies than the god of life after him- I assure you."

"I'd imagine he would come up with more allies as well," she commented, picking up the sounds of Tates' footsteps from the back room of the house. She would not want him to walk in on this conversation. "Though it is true, his enemy count would rise." She ran her hands slowly down Bilkka's back, her eyes now hard with anticipation and, above all, worry.

"Eventually he will remember, that is undoubted. And when that happens, we must be ready to face what disaster will surely come. I feel as if that time is near..."

Tates came baack into the room and raised an eyebrow at their sudden silence, though neglected to coment. "Your bath is heating up." he told the priestess, grabing some of the ambrosia as he passed Yalty, ducking to dodge the massive mans swinging butcher nkife witha smirk, sliding back into thethe living room, sitting down to mucnhappily.

"You should wait untill meal time." the giant scolded huffing. Tates was so small compared to him- it was hard to hit such a nimble target.

Chasianna perked up at Tates' sudden appearance, the expression on her face clearly housing traces of hushed embarrassment and secrecy along with the awkward silence. "Thank you," she replied, bowing her head not only to hide her flustered face but also to show her gratitude. A hot bath sounded absolutely heavenly.

Her violet eyes followed as Tates adeptly swiped some food from beneath Yalty's nose--immediately dodging his silver knife as a result. Ambrosia, was that what Yalty had said it was? How very interesting.

tates sat next to the priestess, breaking his nabbed food in hal,foffering it to her. "At least I share. Your a stingy cook." tates said houghtly. He had such a diffrent attitude around the mamoth man. Much more... natural. or perhaps it was more free? He had no need for a tough and cold front. Not inside with friends.

"Oh, thank you," Chasianna replied, a surprised smile passing her perfect lips as she accepted the odd snack. It was as if he had read her mind. Taking the food into her hands she gazed down at it, wondering how it would taste. If it was indeed Ambrosia, food of the Gods, was it not forbidden that she eat it?

Then again, there were many actions she had committed over the last 48 hours that were considered forbidden--unforgivable crimes. And now she was to cut her hair? She had no use for worry when it came to laws and rules any longer.

"Happily damned fool." tates corrected biting into the fruit happily. He was actuly smiling. "You need to relax Yalty... youll get old prematurly otherwise."

With all the reason to ignore the fear tugging at her chest, Chasianna still hesitated to take a bite of the holy food. So much had happened during these past two days, things that had turned her life upside-down forever. Things would never be the same again; t was almost too much to bear.

And what would happen to her in the end? Eventually Tates would leave her, and Yalty too. Where would she go? Who would she turn to for help? All these questions were whirling through her head, and poor Chasianna felt dizzy under the pressure. She swallowed the lump that had risen in her throat, unable to eat now even if she wanted to.

Tates looked over and frowned slightly. "If you dont eat youll never feel better." he stated. "And besides, Ambrosia will help you heal quicker."

"Likeyou?" yalty snorted. "Your an ambrosia fiend."

Chasianna jolted out of her thoughts, nearly causing Bilkka to fall off her lap, and she immediately flushed in embarrassment. Why was she acting so strangely? All this worrying and anxiety and fear--she just wished it would disappear. Holding onto such emotions would only make her recovery much more slower than it already was.

"Yes, you're right," she mumbled in response, ignoring the sick feeling in her gut. He was right--she would never heal if her body lacked the energy to do so. Swallowing back the lump in her throat once more, she held the fruit to her lips--her hand shaking with weakness and anticipation. It wasn't poison or anything, but the idea of eating food intended for gods was almost too much for the poor priestess.

"If yalty is preparing it for us- were obviously aloud to eat it." tates said apparently understanding her hessitation. "We wouldnt put you into a bad situation knowingly like that." he stated nd stood up, holding the pit in hsi hand.

"Oh no, it's not that," she blurted out, waving her hands--and the fruit--in the air. "No, it's just..." she fell silent, and her amethyst pools dropped to the floor again. "I was just thinking about everything that has happened, things I could have never imagined in my wildest dreams." Her lips curved downward into a small frown, creating creases on her porcelain forehead as she furrowed her eyebrows and lifted her saddened eyes.

"I have no home to return to, no village, no family--I've been exiled, not only by the Elders and my people, but by the god Moren himself."

It was true she had lost everything she had ever known, but as painful as it was to endure these losses a small part of her had longed such change to begin with. She was never happy spending her days in the temple, always lonely and isolated. She was not allowed to see her family, not allowed to see friends, and if, by chance, someone familiar visited the temple she was not allowed to show her recognition. She was a priestess, holy and pure. She had no need for relationships of any kind other than her relationship with Moren--and loneliness had forever gnawed at her heart.

Now she was in the company of others, warm and safe, and the sense of freedom that accompanied this was almost ecstasy for her--she couldn't imagine reverting back to her old lifestyle, even if the opportunity presented itself. Her former life showed her nothing but unhappiness.

"I'm sorry, please forgive my complaints. You two have saved my life, and I am eternally grateful." She bowed her head once again, unable to look the two men in the eyes.

".... Your such an odd woman." tates comented and walked over, this timt to actuly help Yalty who seemed amused by the priestess' logic.

"PLease, make yourself at home here." Yalty invited. "LIke I said earlier.... a friend of tates is a friend of mind." he said, shoving the heavy cast iron pot- with tates guiding it- into a roaring fire stove.

Chasianna smiled wistfully at Yalty's hospitality, and though she knew his words rang true they did not fill her with hope. She could stay here, yes, but not forever.

"Yes, I suppose I am," she replied in response to Tates, her eyes following the two as they carried a very large cast iron pot to the center of the kitchen. She lengths Yalty was going to to make them a meal! He was so very kind. At the thought of the meal Chasianna's mouth began to water, and she gazed down at the fruit in her hand. Her hunger was apparent, but her appetite not so much. Still, she returned the fruit to her lips, this time sinking her teeth into its flesh--which immediately caused her to cry out in surprise.
