Dragon Hame [Closed]

"A long time ago, the Three Dragons of Xavan were the rulers of this world, over all humans and other beasts alike. One was a red dragon, one blue and the last was silver. After about a thousand years of ruling, the humans grew tired of reptiles telling us what was right and what was wrong. We could tell for ourselves! After all, we had build roads, cities, weapons that could easily cut down a dragon... So why couldn't we govern ourselves?
Well, we though we could. So the human army's joined forces, right under the red dragons nose. We struck in its sleep and cut its heart out. It was Mated to the Blue dragon- so naturally it killed the blue one instantly."

The old gate keeper stopped talking and leaned against the wall by the fireplace with a smug look. "They weren't very hard to kill."

His apprentice, a boy named Emist, frowned, considering the tale before shaking his head. "But what happened to the silver dragon?" he asked pouring his mentor yet another helping of booze. He had heard the guards talking about the key in the west- and the only key he knew of was to the gate he helped to protect. it was only natural for a boy to wonder...

"Ah." the gatekeeper laughed a deep belly laugh, a smile crossing his lips. "The Silver dragon. Well, we tricked 'im. He was a brute too strong for us humans to take down. so we made an 'agreement'- that we would govern ourselves and if we ever needed 'is help, we would come get him. So- when 'e let his guard down the works set to lockin him up."

"Works?"

"Wizards and suck." he waved a hand, then paused eying the boy for a moment. He grinned and pointed down, between his feet. "Ya didn't think we'd be guardin a gate for nothin' would you?"

"But- there's only two of us." Emist pointed out with a frown. "There's no way we could stop a dragon- let alone the dragon a whole army co-"

"Precisely!" he said. "That's why, Emist. That's why we don't let nobody near the gate. Sos they cant unlock 'im and sick 'im on us." he nodded. "You know, bein' yellow haired, I took you in for a reason. Gold hair 'posed to mean magic in your veins." the old man said, wagging a stern finger at the boy.

Emis refilled the glass when his teacher held it out and nodded slowly, forcing a weak smile. "I suggest going to sleep sir." he said and stood up. "Its not good for a man your age to be awake past the nights midpoint." he said, quoting one of the common sayings he had heard Father Prather say during his sermons.

The old man waved him off, but not before taking the fire brandy bottle. "You go sleep. In the mornin- you gotta make sure those roost eggs get to town in one pice." he scolded drunkenly.

"yes sir..." Emist said, turning his back to the man unable to hold back a grin.

-30 minutes later-

Emist took his masters sword out of its case, wrapping it in a sheet and tied it to his hip. He grabbed his ruck sack, gold and looked in the mirror one last time. His long blonde hair was in the sink, cut off harshly with a knife that had been since stuffed into his boot. Just in-case, he gathered it up and put it in his bag. He couldn't chance a work making a voodoo doll on him...

Silently, he climbed out through the window- knowing the door woudl squeek and give him away.

Down below, he landed with a light thud, curling his nose at the smell of the compost heap. He coughed a bit at the stench but took off none the less, into the woods. The roads were closed at night and always patrolled by guards.

He'd rather face a beast over a guard any day....

He shifted the sword, already deciding to buy a proper holster for it asap. As he looked around he began to realize just how different the woods looked at night than in the day. It didn't matter. He would find his way. In the morning, when the sun rose he would be able to tell if he was still heading west. For the time being, he would go where he knew- or as close to as he could.

-2:30 am-

Emist panted, running through the woods as quickly as his legs would carry him, tree branches and leaves tearing across his skin. The guard had spotted him- most likely assumed he was an escaped slave. They were close in guessing right, but not entirely...

He winced, stepping wrong. The move resulted in a sudden sharp fall, down into the valley.

The guards panted, slowing as they got to where he had fallen. "Think it lived?" one asked the other wiping its forehead.

"No way." the second said breathing hard. "That's a pretty steep fall. Nothin' but dragon feeding grounds down there..." The first nodded his agreement- turning away...

Emist grimaced, not opening his eyes. A quick physical check; legs moved but hurt. Arms seemed okay. Hands moved and fingers too. With a sigh he nearly cried out. Ribs- not check. He opened his eyes slowly, becoming instantly aware of the odd angle he was in.

He grunted, pushing himself up to wrap his arm around his stomach.

Thats when he heard it. The unmistakable clicking of a dragons tongue on the roof of its mouth. Normally it was a sign that you had aggravated it- other times it was just smelling you. Either way wasn't a pleasant option at the moment.

He froze, wiping some blood out of his eyes, only to have it replace itself. Lovely.

Human's were an interesting species. The way they carried themselves, the way they did things. It was all so interesting and weird. She always watched them from afar, well the nearest village, ever since she was young. She always peered upon the humans from afar and sometimes sat there for hours just watching them. It was just something she did, but she was careful about it as she knew how human's reacted to her kind.

Normally she was always told to keep out of sight. To keep away from the humans they were nothing but trouble. She didn't care they were curious things and she took interest in them. How they looked, how they spoke, how they moved. Everything about them was just....interesting to her. Though she did understand the ramification's of what could happen if she attempted to come in contact with them. It wouldn't be all rainbows and butterflies I can tell you that.

So she kept within the woods and in the sky's where she couldn't be found. She was known as Skytalon, or Sky for short, and she is a dragon. She was a still growing dragon so she was still yet to be a full adult dragon so she also wasn't as big as the adults, but she was one of the more beautiful dragons.

Scales of white along her body. Two large wings scaled wings which stretch out about 9ft in total. Her own body from note tip to tail tip was 13ft in total and from the ground to the top of her back about 7ft. Her scales slightly dirty from wandering about the woods and kicking up dust.

Currently though she was within the chasm just waltzing through it to see what's left behind, but all that's scattered about is nothing but ashes. Though at the moment she didn't spot anything of interest, well there was another dragon off in the distance, but she didn't pay no mind to it.

Making up his mind, that it would be smarter to attempt sneaking away than to remain standing where he was, Emist looked around for the sword he had dropped. The moonlight reflected off the blade, which he quickly snatched up, wincing as he went. At least one rib was cracked, but it didn't feel broken.

The clicking was getting louder. A look around showed him a rather large looking silloette stalking towards him. A dragon, more than likely full grown. On his opposite side, he noticed a smaller, yet still fairly large dragon shuffeling around as well.

No good deed goes unpunished, it seemed.

He couldnt really sneek anywhere, he decidede, seeing as how the older dragon had obviously spotted him and seemed to be planning to make an early morning snack out of him.

The blond swore, once more attempting to wipe the blood off of his face before making a mad dash for it.

His chest burnt with the seering pain from the fall, but even still, the young man moved fast. just not fast enough.

The large green dragon that had spotted him had kept its eyes trained on him, its sides puffing with gas. When emist ran for it, the dragon let the pent up attack fly, sending a fury of flames after him.

To any onlooker, the boy didn't stand a chance as the flames consumed him.

The sound of the flames erupting caught her attention. Her head quickly snapped from looking at this large pile of ash to looking over at the eruption of flames. Her head tilted and she blinked several times as she had taken notice of a human who had just gotten consumed by the flames. Well there went her chances at interacting with a human. That's so not fair. Her eyes closed for a moment as if to appear too pained to see such a sight a human being BBQ'ed right before her very eyes.

The other dragon one much larger than her, obviously much older had taken care of that intruder fairly quickly. Though it was a curious thing as to why was there a human here of all places. She was fairly certain the humans knew this to be a dragon's feeding zone. There she just watched as the flames had snuffed the life of the human, well there went the interesting part of her day.

Ooc; lol, awesome.

As the flames died down, Emist still stood, holding his sword, tip down in the ash covered ground.

Aside from the sheet that had wrapped the sword being gone now, and a but of charring on his cloak, the boy seemed fine, though visabbly shaken.

The blade seeemd to hum lightly, too lightly for Emist's huan ears, though loud and clear for the green dragon about to charge the starstruck boy.

Even this turn of events shocked the white dragon Skytalon. Her eyes had widened as her head perked up. The human! It was still alive! Maybe the god's did allow a chance for her to interact with them. But how did the human survive?! She wanted to know. She didn't hesitate though as she too charged in as well. She herself was quicker than most dragon's, but she wasn't certain if she could reach the human before the other dragon, who was much closer than she was. Though as she ran for the human at full speed, her scales seemed to lift slightly, as she heard the humming, and her own scales vibrated as well.

She unleashed a deafening roar her powers mainly related around sound, but like any ol' dragon she was capable of blasting fire as well. But her roar that she lashed out was used to stun all that heard it.

The Green dragon nearly stumbled, the rawr distracting him from his targetlong enough for the white dragon to reach him.

Emist's knuckles turned white on the hilt of the sword, using it more as a crutch than anything else as the momentas his blood ran cold.

Oh, gods, he was going to die. Be torn to shreds by two diffrent dragons. And all before he was even 24 hours into his journey to release the Silver dragon.

She charged in quick and her dragon claws wrapped around Emist's body and she then jumped straight up and her wings spread out and too the sky she went. She didn't want to wait for the green dragon to recover, she wasn't foolish to get into a fight with someone much older than her. Though once she broke surface of the tree tops she flew away with Emist in claw. Though where was she to go? Well she needed to get away and hide, she couldn't exactly retreat to the village since well the human's may start attacking once they see a dragon flying in the sky. She flew down close to the tree top's but she shot further into the woods, unfortunately it would mean taking Emist further away from the nearby village.

Once she felt that she was a safe distance away she would dip into the forest again, breaking a few trees on her way down, but she did protect Emist with her other claw. Ground would be met as she rested on her hind legs a moment standing upright and looking around before she looked down at her claws to look at the human she has captured. The tongue clicking noise erupted from her, but it was slower and gentle.

The blond was looking up at her from her claws, the blood on his face mostly dry and the sword in his hands still there, yet against her scales it didn't feel sharp at all. Nothing more than a toothpick really.

His blue eyes were what stood out most on the young man. They looked like snow shadow, bright, yet light in color.

His hair was crudely cut to just above shoulder length, and he still kept one arm wrapped around his side, attempting to protect his injured rib.

"Uh.... Hi." he managed to get out, confused now as to why he hadn't been gobbled up yet, and more importantly, why the clicking sound of this white dragon sounded so much different than the green dragon form a few minutes before. He had heard dragons could speak the common language, and legends he had red at the Keepers house spoke to dragons with the gift of tongues, able to speak all languages of every age. He just hoped 'hi' was not some sort of insult in an older language.

The clicking noises continue and her head came in closer getting near to his face and she sniffed him. Moving her head back her eyes narrowed when he said 'Hi' and the clicking stopped. She adjusted her whole body so she was settling herself down like a Sphinx. She crossed her front legs over each other and stared at him, her silvery colored eyes narrowed, as a voice would echo in his mind. "Hello human." Her voice was soft and elegant. "What are you doing in our feeding ground?"

It was a curious thought as to why the human was there. Did he come on purpose? Was he forced here? Well no matter, she wanted to keep this human. She found a human that landed in the wrong spot and saved it's life. So she saw it as finder's keepers.

"Just, eh, passing through?" he frowned, touching his head hesitantly. The bleeding has stopped, but the cut along his hairline hurt, making facial expressions didn't help any.

"So, um, thank you for saving me, and you know, not devouring me." he said, clearly a bit nervous. "But I really ought to get going. You know, keys to find, silver dragons to free--"

He was already wanting to leave? Did something about her rub him the wrong way? She didn't think that it was because she was a dragon, she was oblivious to the fact that humans feared dragons, she considered herself to be a very sweet dragon. She didn't want him to leave...not ever really. Her scales lifted and vibrated as the clicking noise occurred again, but this time it was faster, at least until he mentioned freeing the silver dragon.

Her scales dropped and her head lifted in a rather curious manner. "Freeing the Silver Dragon?" her head came closer to Emist. Why did he want to release the Silver dragon. "Why?" she asked, but then demanded. "I'm far more entertaining that any old silver dragon, much prettier too. It's better to just stay here with me. I can keep you safe and protect you."

With her head near Emist her tongue flickered out at him and licked across his cheek once as she then awaited a response.

Emist blinked, then laughed a bit, mostly out of released tension. Protect him? Well, at least it meant she planned on collecting him rather than eating him. That was a relief.

"Well, I'm not planning on releasing him for company." he admitted, taking a half step back. "See, for whatever it might mean to you, the current King's been downright horrible as a ruler. Taxes of nearly 90 % of a family's income, wars, sickness; most human society, at least in this kingdom's been falling to hell. So, I figure if I release the Silver dragon, we might go back to a time where Dragons governed-- and we lived alongside."

As he explained his self appointed task, he himself felt how stupid and hopeless it was. It was a childs idea, and while in his head sounded do-able and even admirable out loud it sounded like a game he was bound to lose.

"I'm the Gate Keepers student." he explained frowning. "I fell off a cliff into those hunting grounds on accident, running away from the city guards. If they had caught me as a run away, they would have killed me. Or worse."

Staring at him she listened and a low 'hmm' came from her as she was pondering something. He seemed like he had a purpose for being out here and it would lead up to why he ended up in their valley. So he was running away from guards. Lifting a claw as she scratched at her neck before lowering it. "hmm...Then I'll come along with you." she saw this as an opportunity for her to see human civilization from a closer perspective and she had one of her own to be able to fill in spots that she didn't know anything about.

She didn't care so much about releasing the silver dragon, but thinking about working alongside of humans was interesting to see work out. Her main purpose though was to see how humans lived. It was a huge amusement for her. "I can't allow my human to wander unprotected, so I will be coming with you. Beside this concept of dragons working alongside humans sounds interesting so I wanna see how this plays out."

The boy blinked up at her and nodded. "Alright..." he said hesitantly. "BUt you're too big to fit on a ship, and I doubt you'll want to fly all the way to the Western Continent." he pointed out, chewing his bottom lip slightly.

He recalled legends his teacher had taught him about dragons and humans, back in the old days. A dragon and a human could become partners and share the same life span. It let the dragon take a human form to walk around in.... The issue was he didn't know how to do it.

"Do you kow anything about forming a pact?" he asked.

She tilted her head as she stared at this mere human. It seems that this one does hi studies quite well. "You seem well informed..." Her tongue slithered out and ran across her dragon teeth. It wasn't something she expected a human to know about. It had been quite some many year since humans and dragon's lived side by side. So making a pact was almost non-existent. Peering closer at Emist she would nod her head. "But yes I do."

Pondering about if he knew what he was getting himself into she would question Emist. "How much about the pact do you know? I mean would you really be willing to do such a thing?" It is something heavy to think about as they would share a life span, but not of a normal human. Emist would end up living as long as Skytalon lived, could be a couple hundred, or maybe a couple thousand. Dragon's did hold an extremely long lifespan if nothing interrupted it.

Emist shifted awkwardly. "I know magic dictates I give up something, but thats about as much as I know." He admitted. Still, knowing so little was a massive amount of know how, compared to the general public.

" If it means accomplishing my goal, then I'm willing to give up anything." He said confidently.

Listening to him and hearing how he knew so little she figured she'd give him a bit more information on what he would be getting into. "Well upon making a pact, we would share a lifespan, more specifically. You will share my lifespan. Thus you will live as long as I do." It can be quite a big thing for most people to live for so long. "and if ever I should die, you will die as well. If I were to feel pain so will you feel pain and if you feel pain so will I. So think well on this it's a huge step away from humanity."

Emist blinked. "So it would be like sharing a soul?" he asked, trying to really wrap his mind around the concept.

Living for a long time wasn't a bad thing, really, he thought. He knew of people who claimed they wanted nothing more than to live a long life. Sharing the pain of another person couldnt have been such a bad thing either, so long as they worked together to keep one another safe.

"How do you form a pact anyway?" he asked, sitting down. "And do you know what sort of thing I have to give up?"

Skytalon shrugged her large dragon shoulders. "Something like that..." she would respond. As for what he would have to give up. "A normal human life. If all goes well and I don't know, you'll live for hundreds of years, possibly thousands and well having the same body, and the same face, never really getting older." Well she wasn't certain if his age would freeze, she never really did a pact so she only knew so much. She knew how to do it and some of the effects, but having never experienced it she wouldn't know all of the effect. Whether it froze his age, or what.

"I must give you a piece of my heart and entwine it with yours." lifting a claw she lightly poked at his chest. "From what I hear you heartbeat is here..."

Emist thought for a moment. The possibility of being stuck as a kid and never being able to grow up was a reason for pause. Noone would ever take him seriously. He would never really be able to get any stronger.

But then, the she-dragon didnt seem too sure on that idea herself.

When she poked him he nearly fell back. Luckily he was sitting and could simply put an arm behind himself to prop himself upright. "So then, are you willing?" he asked, having already made up his mind. A pact with a dragon was an advantage he simply could not afford to give up.

Her claw rested against the ground as she watched this human. This human who was willing to throw away everything for what he wanted to do. He must really want this era of where dragon's rule. Whoever this current ruler must be really bad, as she had assumed, for him to still insist upon taking the pact. A nod of her head. "Yes, I am willing." This would be fun, plus she could keep the human she always wanted one.

"The pact may hurt a little." she stated as she lifted her claws and one clawed paw rested against her own chest, where her heart was located and it would begin to glow and her other clawed paw reached for Emist and she poked a single claw to his chest were his heart was located and her claw began to glow as well. "Are you certain you're ready?"

Emist winched but nodded. "Yea ma'am." he said with certainty.

Pain was nothing new to him. Sure, he hated it, but again-- it was worth the cost.

The blond closed his eyes and balls his fists on his knees, his sword laying beside him, humming softly like it had earlier. Again, Emist couldn't hear it, it was much too low a pitch.

The process had begun once Emist stated that he was certain. Her claw would glow more and then turned ethereal as it began to pass through Emist's body. While there was no physical damage Emist would be able to feel the claw passing through ad traveling through his chest to his heart. Once the claw came in contact with the heart and pierced into it, Emist would feel a stabbing pain in his chest, and the glowing grew brighter and the process of the pact continued. Connecting their hearts to each other and intertwining their life span. Transferring a piece of her heart into his so that the pact would be completed through this painful magical process.

Once the process was complete the glowing had stopped and skytalon removed her claw from inside Emist and sat there looking at him. "The process is complete."

Emist winced, biting his heek to keep from crying. He wasn't a child, he reminded himself. from today on, he was an adventurer.

The blond opened his eyes, unable to help the fact that they had watered slightly from the pain in his chest.

It was done?

Well.... That haddn't been as excrusiating as he had thought it might be.

"So then, your life and mine are one now?" he asked.

She said if he felt pain, so would she. If that were the case, she was in for one doozy of a headahe and side pain. The pain of the fall still lingered.

He stood up and looked around, picking up his sword, awkward with its length and his height. He stood only about 5 feet four inches, with the sword itself easily three foot long.
