Skeptically Slytherin (Closed)

Scorpious sat by the lake, staring out at the small waves made by the wind.

The blond was very much a loner, known as a book worm, and known for his lineage. He was a Malfoy after all-- and not just any. He was the son of the current Prime Minister.

He sat alone in the library while others ate meals, or in an empty class room studying lord only knew what. Noone dared to ask. He kept a small black book on his person at nearly all times. The one time someone had been foolish enough to grab it form him they had been sent to the hospital wing for nearly two entire weeks, while their skin re-grew from the burns.

Granted, that didn't deter bullying of a less physical means. Often people were cruel, calling him and his family a pile of skull suckers-- a derogatory term for ex-deatheaters, implying they sucked the dark lords---

Not much was known about his home life, other than what was in the tabloids. His mother was dead, having dyed during child birth the summer just before his first year in Hogwarts. His father held high popularity, despite his past, and supposedly, the young Malfoy had spent the last summer away on Holiday in the United States.

Even the other Skytherins disliked him. While his family demanded a certain respect, Scorpious had a strange knack for making enemies without trying. He wore muggle fashion, having his ears pierced, and seemed to fit the mold of a Ravenclaw much more readily than someone cunning and sly.

Today was the first Hogsmeads trip of the third year. while other students lined up to leave, Scorpious tossed pebbled into the lake, mindlessly watching them sink to the bottom before repeating the process.

"What fun is a school trip by yourself." he muttered.

Alex had been looking forward to the Hogsmeade trip for weeks, possibly even months (though it was a stretch), and finally the time had come. Everything about the place it was just…and adventurer’s dream. The shops, the sights, the Shrieking Shack, until he was out of school and ready to go on REAL trips to REAL magical locations this was about as good as it was going to get, and the time had finally come.

While most of his classmates would beg to differ that he was much less an adventurer than he was a troublemaker Alex could only laugh; half because it was kind of true and half because he was just jovial guy. Ever since he was young he tended to smile much more often than the typical kid, and from the moment he set foot in Hogwarts he found that helping him make friends, and a lot of them

It was odd how much he stood out though, without regard to his personality. In all three years he’d spent at the school he came to realize that he was one out of maybe three persons from Spain in attendance. Mostly the people came from places like England, Ireland, maybe a couple of Swedish folks, but all in all it was a very white school. Not that there was anything wrong with that, he’d always protest, it was simply an observation, and it nagged at him relentlessly; where were the other Spaniards? Of course, he was never the lingering type, and his ADHD prone brain would always hop, skip, or jump to another topic before he could blink.

Money packed, and permission slip signed, Alex was ready for the party before it even started. Excitement as bubbly and obvious was ever the youngster headed out of his dorm and down into the common room, encountering a few young gentlemen with their noses stuck in books as well as a few ladies playing Wizard’s Chess; of course Yvonne was winning, Joanna never had a chance. Waving at a few before making his way out into the main halls of Hogwarts Alex knew exactly who he was looking for: Rose. Ever since the announcement of the trip she’d been the one he’d taken to harassing day and night over the matter; probably filling many other students with relief that they weren’t the ones being targeted.
 
"Man, it’s finally here," he commented to himself with a chuckle, "Better make sure there’s no big bad story in the paper today before going, though."  And with that thought hovering in the air about him Alex began his descent towards the Great Hall, eyes glancing every which way as he went, curiosity a constant. In a place like Hogwarts he was never sure what he’d find just lying around, and he, for one, wasn’t about to miss a thing.

On his way down to the great hall he spotted the blond sitting by the lake.

Odd... considering a light rain had began to drip against the glass plane of the window. The kid was going to get soaked.

"Alex!" Rose called from the bottom of the stairs. She waved up at him with a grin. "Hurry up!"

He could've sworn he'd seen that kid somewhere before, maybe they shared Potions or something, but at the sound of a familiar voice he jerked his head back from the window and grinned.

"Hey Rose!" Waving at the redhead down below he sped down the last few flights of stairs before catching her in a one armed hug, laughing a bit. "You all ready to go? Sure it'll get a bit rainy out there but so what?" Pausing a moment he looked the girl over then snickered a bit to himself, "That is, unless you're afraid you'll get your hair wet."

Rose rolled her eyes. "Please. Even if my hair did get wet, it isn't like the rain could put out this fire-red hair." she said proudly. "I'm excited to head back to the shop. My old man says he's been working on something good." She grinned.

A couple of people laughed as they came down the stair case. "Did you see him run?"

"That squid must really like him. Poor guy, I almost feel bad for him."

Rose raised an eyebrow at the Ravenclaw 5th years who sauntered past.

"And I thought today couldn't get any more awesome," he snickered, "If your dad's up to no good, as usual, consider me there."

Sparing the chatty Ravenclaws a small glance as they passed Alex visibly cocked his eyes; a mixture of interest and confusion in his eyes. "I wonder if they're talking about that kid..." Continuing down the stairs Alex felt his eyes roll up as he continued to think, nearly tripping as he hit the last stair.

"Whoa!" Catching himself he turned around quickly, pointing to Rose with a grin, "I've got a mission for you!"

Rose raised an eyebrow at her friend, tossing one hip slightly. "Oh?" she asked suspiciously. "And what would that be?"

"Ms. Weasley!" A teacher all but scurried up to the duo. "You're report!" The teacher huffed. "In my hands now young lady or you will not be going on this outting!"

Rose blinked, seeming stunned for a moment. "Um.. You mean, this report?" She asked, pulling out a roll of parchment.

The professor glared and snatched it form her hand, unrolling it. His eyes scanned the page before looking back at her,then down to Alex. "Causing trouble again, Alex?" he asked flattly. Last year, Alex and Peeves had filled this particular professors office with green sludge.

"We're-..." Mouth left hanging open as a certain tight lipped professor came scurrying over Alex could only snicker; she was so lame. Grinning as his red haired compadre forked over a mostly likely A-worthy report, quickly putting on a cheesy smile as the woman's attention seemed to instantly beam over onto him.

"Huh? Me? You should know me better than that, Professor. I'd never do anything to cause trouble," smiling as his halo of deceit lay perched atop two perfectly sharpened devil horns the Spaniard shrugged his shoulders. "Though, I do have somewhere I'd rather be right now than here. So bye! Have fun grading papers!" Looking to Rose as he finished his farewell he shot her a gaze that made it more than obvious he wanted her to follow he began making his way towards the front doors, leaving the Professor in the dust without a second thought.

Naturally, his red-headed accomplice followed.

"If she comes at me with another detention slip because of something you did, I swear, youll never be able to eat another jelly bean for the rest of your life without thinking twice." she warned as they came to a stop. "So what's this assignment you have, mon capiton?"

"Relax, flames, I'm sure it'll be fine," cheekiness evident he stopped just short of Hogwarts' main gates, pondering a few things before stepping out into vast adventure-lands. "There's this kid, and I think I know him, you prob'ly do too, I mean he's been in our classes before and he's blonde and Slytherin and stuff," Alex rambled eyes rolling up in thought, madly trying to get ahold of his previously existing point, "and...and the giant squid was going after someone and...he was sitting out there all by himself so..." Pulling open one of the doors he pointed outside in an only mildly dramatic fashion before exclaiming, "We gotta check it out!" The fact that this was originally a mission, specifically for Rose, forgotten like yesterday's pop quiz.

Rose rolled her eyes at her friends antics, though followed after him none the less. "You know what, it takes a special type of flighty-ness to jump topics like you do." She commented, following him to the lake.

Scorpious Malfoy stood on the opposite side of the lake, muttering under his breath and he ringed out his clothes. "Stupid-- squid." He kicked a rock into the water.
