| The mobile device shuddered with life at receiving a new text, shuffling into her pocket for the device she read the message and sent one back:
Yeah, would love 2 finally get away from it all.
XOXO -T.
Sliding the object back into her pocket, the girl sighed, looked out to the beautiful night view before her and noticed the ice forming at the corner of her eyes. A few plumes of her breath escaped her parted lips as her heart skipped a beat, why was she suddenly feeling like she was being watched? Trying her best to ignore it she found this spot the perfect point to snap a quick pic to post on Instagram. Pulling out her camera from her messenger bag, she prepared to snap a good photo when she felt the coolest breeze that made her skin rise with goose bumps and her scalp prickle as well, like a startled cat. Hazel eyes widening, she whipped her head to the right where she felt the most iciness, and saw Jack. "Oh --it's you..." she exhaled sharply mentally kicking herself for thinking the worst. Smiling as she lowered the camera away from her face and relaxed a little she chuckled humorlessly, "Um uh, please don't do that next time, you scared the crap out of me... Jack right?" Her tone was light and sweet, a bit trilling at the edge, she was still trying to calm her racing pulse.
What a way to end the night.

| [SORRY! I've been boycotting Saphira :p Shes supposed to post on our rps >< I didnt mean to neglect our rp as well!]
Jack spared her a wiry smile. "That's right." He said, eying her camera. "Fancy meeting you here."
While she was startled, so was he. He would have to have words with that little death goddess-- taking down his veil like that. She could have ruined every thing with that little stunt.
"Isn't it sort of late for a woman to be out alone?" he looked around the all but deserted park. Aside from the two of them not a soul seemed to be around.

| It was his eyes, it had to be. The icy depths of them just pulling her in as soon as they locked with hers. That must explain her silence whenever he looked at her so intently, and his smile -breath taking. How could a man so beautiful as he be wondering around is this little ol' town? It almost felt like a dream, at least she felt that way. Her gaze mesmerized by him never looked away as he spoke, until he finally tore his gaze from her and pulled her back to the now. She caught a few words of what he had said, and she too turned her attention towards the empty park, feeling its expanse for the first time, though not at all worried for that matter.
Smiling at his concern, she cleared her throat, feeling her heart swell so suddenly within her, and quite surprised herself at this reaction --she'd never felt this way about a guy, ever. It was shockingly cruel, but she had no complaints. So it seemed that she welcomed this new and blossoming rush of her blood coloring her cheeks more. Of her heart pounding like a drum inside her, about to burst from her chest. Of her nervousness that would not allow her to speak. Staring at a red slide, as a point to focus her swimming mind back to rationality, she released a sigh, "This is a safe town, nothing bad ever happens here, Jack." Then she reverted her gaze to him, preparing herself for the ocean blue of his stare.
To her, he was like a prince, someone of such high status, that she felt so pale in comparison, so small. It was in his attire, in his presence, his gentle and slightly husky voice and especially his face.
But why would someone like him, ever be interested in someone like her? She wasn't Blair, now that girl could effortlessly hold a great convo with this man, she evoked that cool, and high-class aura that befit her so well.
At that thought her smile wavered, and she gripped her camera tightly, she could never be anything like Blair and it was almost frustratingly painful. "I.. I just got out of work," she felt the need to explain, "we met, remember, back at the cafe?"
{It's okay, I take what I can get, RL can really be in the way sometimes and it gets difficult to always take that five minutes to post something. If she's like me, she'd be the type of person who likes to take a moment to think about how her characters would react to a scene in a post. It takes time and effort to come up with a flawless post, especially in an awesome role play, so if she hadn't posted anything yet or logged in, it's most likely because she wants to get "free" time to just relax, log in, and lose herself in a role play. So no biggie. ^_^}

| He laughed. "Yes, I remember. It wasn't exactly long ago." he pointed out playfully. A light flurry had begun to fall again, leaving the tickling feel f O-zone around them.
"Safe town or not, I would feel better knowing you got home in one piece." He offered her his hand up. "Let me walk you home."
It was like a scene from a fairy tale. A kind knight in shining armor offering the fair maiden a brave escort through the dark woods. A light breeze tossed his hair effortlessly, for a moment the luminescence of the moon giving his pale skin an almost ghostly glow.
He watched her with unwavering eyes. When she seemed to hesitate, he offered her a reassuring smile. "I don't bite." he promised.

| This was a joke right? Or maybe he was just being polite? Instinctually the girl's hazel eyes scanned about for a group of eyes snickering, watching, waiting for her reaction, waiting with a lens, maybe he was paid to be nice? Or maybe she was dreaming. Clenching her teeth at the race of her heart beat, her head swimming with worry, and excitement and a tidal wave of emotion crashing in she just couldn't process. And slowly, she rose her hand cloaked in a mitten, it's fingers bare from the flip cover of the knit fabric, her shaky digits almost anticipating the mist of his touch, a breeze, a cold feel of her hand ghosting through his.
But he wasn't a dream, and this wasn't a mean prank fabricated by d*** buddies having nothing better to do. This was real. He was real. And she was experiencing now.
At the contact of her fingers against his offered palm, an electric current shocked through her, traveling up her entire arm and seemingly jolting along with her dancing nerves, it was also an odd feeling, but not something that frightened her --rather she was curious. About him, about this.
Dream or not, as long as she was with him everything was okay, she realized this and was comforted by it. Welcoming its sweetness, her eyes traveled up to meet his gaze once more. He was beautiful.

| Jack cleared his throat awkwardly, shifting with her hand in his. "Not to be weird, but I need to know where you live to walk you there, Ms. Tori." he chuckled, seeming now a bit shy that he had her permission to walk her home. This was a good in, he decided. Once he became human she would have already met him. Too bad, it seemed the Mother Goddess had another idea in mind. A few weeks after he escorted her home, the time had come for him to embark on his mortal adventure. The Court of the Gods met all together to witness what had never before taken place-- a God being made man. Jack entered the around room, his ice blond hair drifting lightly on the breeze as he moved, his eyes scanning the crowd. He spotted a few faces he recognized, though realized suddenly none of them could really be called supporters for his cause. A small fleet of women in black sat beside the entrance, while a small army of men in white on the left. He recognized the Goddess of wisdom, and the god of war, though many others didn't seem to ring any bells. "Neve." A strong yet soft voice called. Jack's head turned to face the Mother Goddess, dressed in a rainbow of colors, ranging from the darkest of moss to the palest of pastilles. "You've come before the court today seeking something. Share with them your plans and our agreement." she ordered, her voice flowing like water, yet crashing against him like a wave. Jack frowned, looking up at the plethora of faces. None seemed too pleased to be there. "I was offered the chance to be human from the second day of February until the first day of winter. In that time- I would live as a mortal. Be required to get a job, a home- and a wife, as well as a replacement for my current title as Prince of Ice. When I succeed,--" He was interrupted by the Mother Goddess. "If." She said simply. "... If." He corrected. "If I succeed, I would be granted the time, for as long as I want, to remain among the humans- to age and progress with them, and experience mortal life. But if I fail- I would be forced to work with no days rest for the remainder of time. No more gallivanting." The room was silent. Jack, or as his formal name was stated, Neve, was notorious for being a trickster. He always seemed to get side tracked and play games. More than once he had thwarted the god of Wars plans in Russia-- and more than countless times he was to blame for the deaths of many. He would come early and ruin crops, disturbing the goddess of the harvest. To limit him to stay within his boundaries, it seemed like no choice at all. "All in favor, raise your hand." The mother goddess spoke up. All hands were raised. Jack hardly had time to smile when a siring pain shot through his chest. He fell to his knees, gasping, as the pain spread. "As a mortal you will have no powers." The Mother Goddess said, stepping down from her throne. The room remained eerily silent, despite Jack letting out a straggled cry of pain. "You will have no means of contacting your brothers or sisters, save by prayer and offering. You will not be the same as you are now." Jack gasped for air, feeling suddenly like he was drowning as his energy escaped his skin. The room felt frigid. Slowly his frosted hair fell flat, darkening to deep bloody red. "If or when you find a replacement, you will form a blood bond with them. From there, I will handle things." the Goddess stated, kneeling down in front of Jack. "As with most mortals, you shall be imperfect." she said, raising one hand gently to the left side of his face. A loud ringing noise threw Jack to his right, landing him on the floor, which he was all to aware of was cold. When he mustered the strength to open his eyes, he found he couldn't see out of his left eye, nor had the ringing ceased in his ear. "You will be half deaf, and half blind." The Goddess announced. "You will learn to work better with others, if nothing else through this experience." She stood upright again, dropping a bag in front of him. Out fell a small blue book-- a passport. A wallet, with ID and 500 dollars, as well as assorted jewelry. "This is all the help you will get from the Gods." She said. "Should you need more, I suggest you pray." Her voice thundered, echoing in the court. The next moment, Jack gasped, lifting his head quickly off a table he had been apparently seated at. His heart pounded as he looked around. It took him a moment to realize where he was. The cafeteria in Tori's school. Only, you know... >< With clothes. | |

| He had walked her home indeed, and for that moment it only felt like the girl was dancing on clouds, as soon as she entered through the doors of her dwelling however, life crashed around her suddenly and Jack, such a dear one seemed like a distant memory. For the coming weeks, and even through the winter wonderland of her trip with Aubrey, her encounter with Jack again kept secluded in her heart. She felt almost odd, talking about him, it wasn't a normal thing for her to do, and she knew the girl would keep pressing her for opinions and thoughts of him. So she never brought him up, but oh was he a constant figure in her mind. Everything and everywhere she looked, she imagined him, his snow white hair, those ice blue eyes, it was crazy --it was wonderful.
Then school wove about her and she had to keep herself focused on studying for exams and her photography club --one that she demanded the school should have.
"Who's the new boy?" Blair's voice drilled into Tori's head like a screeching Fire truck siren -it could be that irritating sometimes.
Aubrey had been flickering through her saved photos of her winter escape, and for Blair's insistence she finally looked up and turned her attention toward at the boy Blair was drooling over. Even Tori's gaze shifted, curious as to whom they were all staring at.
He sat at an empty table, it was like an island, poor fella. He would need a friend, his eyes though were a curious color, and for some inexplicable reason, despite his different hair color, Tori imagined seeing Jack there in his place. Come on Tori stop thinking about him, he was a once in a life-time thing, you'll never see him again... She thought, and she looked away before the hot, brunette guy could catch her awkward staring.
OOC::Oh my is he gorgeous! :3

| "Odds are that would be Jack Neva-- transfer in from down in the States..." Aubrey said still flipping through pictures. Aubrey had a work study in the admissions office. As such, she knew the names of almost all the students, even if she didn't know them personally. She glanced over. "Looks like he's a nervous mess." she frowned. "Poor guy looks like he's about to be sick." she mentioned, passing the camera back to Tori. "Nice shots, hun." She added.
The redhead across the room shifted out of his seat, seeming all too leery of walking.
Jack sighed, closing his eyes to fight off the disorienting feeling as he pushed himself to his feet from the table. His body felt heavy, hot, what was more-- he wasn't used to the pull of gravity on him like it was. He opened his eyes once more, grabbing the backpack beside him, noticing immediately it had his name embroidered across it.
He tossed the bag over his shoulder and hesitated. In his pocket he felt a small set of lumps. Reaching in he found a small flip phone and set of identical keys to a lock of some sort. From his experience, he knew enough to know it was for a bike. At least he hadn't been dropped entirely out of the blue it seemed.
A quick look showed only two contacts in the phone. "School Office." and "Mother." Well... that was convenient.
He frowned, stuffing the phone and keys away before glancing around the room, bringing one hand up to his ear. The ringing was still present, annoying and painful. Aside from being more aware of his nose, being unable to see out of one eye didn't seem so bad, not yet anyway. He was sure somewhere someone was watching with amusement.
"Looks kind of lost." Aubrey's boyfriend, Mark, mused as he sat down greeting his girlfriend with a discreet kiss on the cheek.
"Hey hun." Aubrey greeted with a smile. Aubrey and Mark were good people. It was only a matter of time really before they got hitched.

| "Jack Neva..."
Tori couldn't supress the smile that had already taken root from within her and grew branches as her thoughts snagged back to the Jack she had met at the party. Taking back her camera from Aurbs she nodded at her in thanks and turned the device off. Again she found herself eying the new boy as he stood and made his way through the crowded lunch room. At her comment a slight frown wrikled her brow some, her smile fading, why did it sound like an insult in her mind? "Well, I would be that way too, especially coming from --where did he transfer from again?" She snapped her hazel hues back at her bestie, "and trying to adjust to a new school could make anyone feel, well, weird."
Blair chuckled, Tori could be such a sweet heart, it was amusing, "Hey Tor, why does that matter? He's a hottie, and well, you're still single. I say we-" she eyes Aurbrey as if signing her up with that look alone, "should help you meet him and maybe you two could-"
"What- no, I can't, I don't want to..." Tori interrupted, seeing where she was going. She was fluttering like a butterfly all over, her cheeks were flaring bright rosy at that thought, she was odd like that and she hated how Blair seemed to look right through her. "I mean," she took a slow breath, "I don't think it's a good idea, and-"
Blair's turn to cut in, "Of course it is Tori, look, he's new, he obviously doesn't know you're a complete photo-nut yet and if you play your cards right, you might even," she leans in with a raised hand to cover her mouth as if to say a secret and whispers, with a teasing smirk, "give up your v-card." Her smile broadens as she leans back and signals a thumbs-up with a brilliant smile.
Tori stares at her and for a moment is shocked, before she blinks and reacts with a little pout and clenched jaw, signalling her great embarrassment. Her cheeks turning several shades of red, she defiantly shakes her head and takes a sip of her iced tea before replying, "I'm not giving it up to the first guy I see. I want it to be special, and I want the guy that I give it to like, like the guys in those 80's movies. Some one who'll respect me and love me. Some one I could marry and--"
"Whoa, whoa Cinderella let me stop you right there. Must I remind you this is college? We're not high school kids anymore. Those dreams should have been stomped on the moment you even stepped foot out your house to here. You're never going to find your prince Tor, let me tell you that now. I know you're nice and all, but guys don't care about that crap." Blair glanced to both Mark and Aubrey, "no offense, you two seem to be the only exception to that rule -so far," she cast them both a nervous semi-smile, before continuing her speech about her own view on the college male species, "but it's probably not going to happen and if you keep waiting, chances are, you're going to find yourself in a very uncomfortable spot. I'm just saying."
Okay so maybe she was right, and maybe she was wrong, it's been years since Blair could actually hold up a relationship with a dude before calling it quits. If Tori could count the times she had actually held a 'relationship' with a guy for more than a couple of months, she'd actually say that her dreams were down right impossible. Yet, Blair and her were totally different people. Blair was like a Supermodel, were Tori was your average college girl, not to say she was a plain Jane but what was it that guys wanted in a girl? If looks couldn't help you, or having a good personality than what? Or perhaps she had been born in the wrong generation.
Or Tori just wasn't the type to have "boy friends" at all.
Then Jack came to mind to soothe all her worries. Even though she had only met him once, she could recall that moment when they had interacted, he was absolute kindness and in her mind, the epitome of gentlemanliness. So prince's were real. She just had to find him again.
Tori let the conversation steer away from her, or at least she did her best to change the subject to what she was taking next. Astronomy 101. Why Astronomy? because just the thought of sitting through another biology class would make her hurl. Yup, that was it. She picked up her text book and then checked her cell for the time and gasped. The Science building was a good walking distance from where she sat now. If she got up and ran, she could make it before classes started. She hated being late. Grabbing her over-stuffed messenger bag, her camera and her text book she jumped up to her feet and apologized to her buddies, but she had to go now.
Racing out the lunch room she blindly barreled through the hall until she smacked right into a brick wall. It was the auburn haired guy, it was as if she had been running after him -or at least it looked that way, and all her stuff dropped to the floor. Stumbling back wards her arms flailing like a cracked-out crossing guard she landed on her butt. Boy was this bad. She couldn't even bring herself to look up at him.

| Jack didn't notice Tori or her friends as he passed, despite the venomous glare Aubrey had been shooting Blaire. As he passed on his blind side, he was more focused on the sheet of paper he had fished out of his bag. It looked like a list of some sort, with times and words that really made no sense.
Colge ALGI 143SCI BLD 9:00 World Mythology 320LIT BLD 10:45 Astrology 143SCI BLD 14:25 ENG Comp 212LIT BLD 16:00
What in the worlds was all of that supposed to mean?
"Woah--!"
Jack was nearly thrown off his feet unexpectedly from behind. He stumbled forward a step or two, nearly dropping the slip of paper he was holding onto.
He looked over his shoulder, having been all but literally thrown from his thoughts, and was shocked to see none other than Victoria herself, on her knees gathering up a collection of papers and odd and end items.
He didn't think twice about stopping in the middle of the corridor to help her. What did take some effort, though, was not sneaking a peek up her thrown skirt. In one swift motion, he'd knelt down across from her, getting busy helping collect the fallen materials. "In a bit of a rush, I take it?" he asked, grabbing one paper before it blew off as the door beside them opened and shut, other students passing without bothering to help. Some even laughed.
He stood back up and offered her a hand to do like wise. "Are you alright?" Maybe it was the ringing in his ear that threw him-- but his voice sounded different. Not much. Infact it sounded the same, minus his typical odd goddly accent.

"Uh-huh... 'S-sorry I'm not usually this..." Tori mumbled, feeling like a 14-year-old for some reason as she reached for papers and stuffed them into her packed bag, she seriously needed to organize all this stuff! "messy..." she pushed back a curtain of golden brown locks in order to see what she was doing. The snickers and weight of all those bystanders staring at her were nil in tampering with her already numbed emotions -she just chose to acknowledge them as if they were ghosts. She could not hear them or see them, and sometimes it worked. Trying not to get her fingers stepped on she hurried her pace and did not care to crumple up a few pages of loose leaf notes as she carelessly slid them into her binder and textbook for the meantime, and when everything was back in her arms, she found herself looking up to meet her hero's gaze. He had also offered his hand to her which she automatically reached for on impulse.
That small shock again, it was familiar but not as strong, and thus confused her and through her off as if she were on a merry-go-round on hyper-speed. Dizzy, she shook his hand, "Tori -I mean I'm Victoria. Uh, welcome..." there she went with that nervous, toothy grin she flashed when she felt so unbearably awkward. He was just a guy for crying out loud! But he too, was very good looking, too good looking, and her heart racing was testimony to how she felt whenever she was around...
Jack.
The crowds around her thinned out and the noise levels dropped to such a low that she could hear her own thoughts again. Was lunch time over for some? Maybe. Tori tucked a few strands of hair behind an ear, she noticed he was blind in one eye and she immediately felt something akin to sorrow for the guy, talk about poor depth perception, total game killer. He would never be able to play those sports that required it, like Basket-ball or Foot ball, though it was hard to tell, both his eyes were that same mesmerizing blue, in comparison to the Jack she had met before at Cat's Eye, not as luminous and bright, more toned down and stronger hue. Beautiful none the less, and his ginger hair, she also noted gave off a light coppery tint when the lights danced off his crown, she almost wanted to touch it.
Of course she beat down that urge don't be creepy Tor she mentally yelled. But he almost sounded like the same Jack too, and even almost looked like him, minus the dye job, and contacts... No. That was crazy talk! She was just trying to project that person into this guy too much, she schooled herself with a small shake of her head for inner confirmation. He was not the same Jack, he just shared the guy's name, that's all.
"I have Astrology next, I don't want to be late, though I suspect that I already am." Tori started to turn slightly, gripping her books and readjusting the strap of her bag comfortably on her shoulder -which was beginning to throb. "What class do you have next? I could direct you to the right building. I memorized the entire map in my head, I'm a human GPS for the campus that is," she almost felt a twinge of embarrassment for saying that. Really? Human GPS?

| He helped her up to her feet once she accepted his hand. As she introduced herself he just smiled awkwardly. She still had no released his hand.
"Jack." he gave his own name in return. He felt bad, having to take his hand away from hers. "Astrology?" he echoed, looking down to his own paper again. A wave of embarrassment fell over him. Now he felt stupid. Of course! This must have been his schedule. "I--uh--.." he glanced back up at Tori before handing her the paper. "Honestly, I've got no clue." he admitted sheepishly.
He noticed her shift her bag again and frowned. "If you would like, I can carry your bag for you." he offered. When she gave him a somewhat odd look, he hurriedly attempted to explain himself. "I mean, if you're going to show me around, it's the least I can do-- and it looks heavy."
He wanted to just vanish. He never fumbled his words like this before. Then again, he'd never been mortal before.

A tint of red colored her already rosy cheeks when she realized she'd still held his hand. Her hazel eyes averted his gaze after he dropped her hand, she was mortified beyond belief. He was embarrassed too, she could only wonder why, such a marvelous creature as him should never be nervous, especially around someone as palid in comparison as her. She took the folded up sheet on her hand, full dark lashes fluttered gently as her eyes lowered to read its contents, already accustomed to the schedule design she could pinpoint exactly what class he had next in a matter of seconds. Astrology. Go figure. There was no escaping him. She smiled a nervous little smile before returning the paper with his schedule to him, he had a few classes with her as well -where they even studying the same major? She didn't have the chance to verify it, but this, just had to be coincidence, right?
He offered to assist her in carrying her bag and she snapped her eyes up, wide, staring at him, he was just so knightly, her mind burst in colors of neurons as her imagination swept her away in a dream. "N-no it's fine," she insisted, not wanting him to think that he owed her anything for her simply giving him directions. It's my burden to bare, not yours, she thought. Again the little flash of pearly white teeth, "It's not heavy, not really," she almost lied, it was, sometimes, but other times she was so occupied with everything college dumped on her and with activities that she'd fail to notice any pains or aches --that is until the end of the day when she found a moment to breathe.
In his haste to explain himself, he fumbled with his words, which brought a genuine smile to tweak her mouth, he was human and this was a reminder to her. Still he was absolute perfection in her eyes and besides him she felt as if she were glowing, in some odd way, she liked his company. Before he could notice her staring she reverted her attention down the long corridor, the direction she had to take to leave the building, "We have to go to the Science building, due west." She quietly mentioned, tilting her binder in that direct path, while dropping an envelope that was the invitation to someone's party she had not yet opened and inspected. Not that she wasn't interested in going, she just didn't know if she had the time.
"We should get going." Then her eyes spotted the fallen invite and she knelt down to reach for it, in her hurry her brain swam and everything around her became a haze of movement and colors. Then she realized a bit too late that she had lost control of herself, her heart sped up so fast, it almost hurt. She slowly tried to steady herself, but couldn't. She felt like a ribbon fluttering down to the ground. She didn't feel a hit, it felt like falling in a black hole. What's happening? Her mind tried to grasp at something to keep her conscious from sinking into the darkness, but her vision was being eaten by the ring of black closing in. She lay there, quite still, her breaths shallow and fast, and the last thing she saw through the slits of her wavy auburn locks were his feet shuffling. She would never be able to tell if he was going to step back, or forward. She saw was darkness. She felt so alone.
He might as well runoff, she was really weird and passing out was never cool. Especially in front of a cute guy who she thought she liked.

| Jack was only barely too slow to break her fall, kneeling down beside her. IT seemed like it was good timing, or the hand of fate as Aubrey hurried down the hall with her boyfriend. They'd seen their friend collapse.
"What happened?" Aubrey gasped, dumping her bag into Marks arms as she too knelt down beside Tori.
"She passed out suddenly." Jack frowned.
Mark set his and Aubreys bags down beside them. "I'll bring the jeep around." he said, already walking off.
It happened to quickly, Jack felt dazed himself. "Shouldn't she go to the hospital?" He asked.
Aubrey shook her head. "Tori doesn't have insurance, and the hospitals far away and crowded to boot." she said. "Welcome to Alaska."
--3 hours later--
By the time Tori came to, it was evening, as evident by the stars outside of the window. She was in her bedroom. The same curtains and alarm clock in her view as ever, with muffled voices from beyond her door.
"You can go home now, if you want. Really, I'm sure she's just tired from working too hard. She'll be fine." Aubrey was attempting to coax someone out.
She seemed to be failing. "I'll go when she wakes up." Jack said in defiance. "I would like to make sure she's alright myself."
Mark, usually quiet, spoke up as well. "You've helped more than enough. With my shoulder, it's a good thing you were around to carry her. Why not just leave your phone number, we'll have her call."
Mark had originally gotten into College on a football scholarship. By the end of his first year, though, he had broken his collar bone and been unable to continue the sport. Now, the quiet theology major just stuck to his class work and girlfriends side.
"Yeah. And if you like, why not leave some of those sketches you've been working on? Tori loves snow-scapes, I'm sure she would love them." Aubrey added.
From the sounds of it, the three had been there the whole time. It seemed the new Jack also carried a similar integrity as the Jack Frost she had met at karaoke. "How about another half hour? If she isn't awake by then, I'll go. It isn't proper for a stranger to be in her house past that time anyway."
A momentary silence fell over the chatter from beyond the door. It seemed they had reached a compromise.
"The hot water should be ready in a moment. Keep an ear out for the whistle, okay hun?" Aubrey addressed mark. "I'm going to go check on sleeping beauty."

Down for three hours? A new record. Either she was tired or her fainting spells were worsening. Tori frowned as she stared up at the glow of her alarm clock sitting on the night stand. She wanted to believe the former since the latter scared her too much. Ever since she was a kid, well, actually since the car accident she'd suffered chronic fainting. The problem with it was that no doctor could tell why she kept fainting. At first they'd ruled it out as a heart condition, maybe not enough oxygen was pumped to her brain, lack of it equals bad circulation, thus the black outs. When she'd been tested to fully determine if that'd been the cause it turned out her heart was healthy as a horse. She was fine they'd said. With no one else to care for her or the surmounting medical bills that followed, she'd been placed in the foster care system.
Of course as soon as she turned eighteen she'd lit out. The fainting spells just a mystery that loomed over her.
"You can go home now, if you want. Really, I'm sure she's just tired from working too hard. She'll be fine." Aubrey's voice. Faint but recognizable. Who was she speaking to? Had she found her K.O.'d and dragged her home with her bea perhaps?
She sat up slowly and swung her legs over the edge of the bed, listening.
"I'll go when she wakes up." A male's voice, Jack? "I would like to make sure she's alright myself."
Right when she'd fainted she was in the hall with him. So he tailed along worried for her? Sweet. She felt her lips quirk into a smile and her cheeks warmed up along with the pounding of her heart. She'd thank him. She felt silly for her reaction to him, even his mere voice. But she couldn't help it, the guy was like fire in her veins. Funny he was the only one who could strike such an impression on from day one.
Another male's voice spoke up, Mark's she recognized, "You've helped more than enough. With my shoulder, it's a good thing you were around to carry her. Why not just leave your phone number, we'll have her call."
Mark had originally gotten into College on a football scholarship. By the end of his first year, though, he had broken his collar bone and been unable to continue the sport. Now, the quiet theology major just stuck to his class work and girlfriend's side.
For Tori, he'd become like a brother. She didn't have much of a family after losing her parents. So after fleeing her cruel foster home she got in touch with Aubrey, they talked a lot through Skype. And had moved to Alaska to roomies with her continue studies in the University since it was also the very place her parents studied.
"Yeah. And if you like, why not leave some of those sketches you've been working on? Tori loves snow-scapes, I'm sure she would love them." Aubrey added.

A momentary silence fell over the chatter from beyond the door. It seemed they had reached a compromise.
"The hot water should be ready in a moment. Keep an ear out for the whistle, okay hun?" Aubrey addressed someone, perhaps Mark. "I'm going to go check on sleeping beauty."
Footsteps echoed from the hall, Tori made to stand but the room spun and she flopped her butt back into the bed. Her eyes snapped to the door when it opened.
"Hey, it happened again didn't it." No question, she sighed and offered a faint smile, "Sorry. I don't know why it keeps happening..."
