| Just before port? the crew would have a feel for Jane and Joseph by then, as to how the ship should be run. | |

| They’d been out to sea for years before they finally reached the eastern continent. Years of hard work and toil. The time passed had been marked with harsh storms, battles, and of course death in its many forms. Some crew members passed from wounds or sickness, some met their end looking down the barrel of a pistol in either Jane’s or Joseph’s hand for crimes they had committed, and some died in the line of duty, fighting for their crew and captain. Over time the crew grew accustomed to Jane and her place on the ship. In fact, many of them began to see Jane as the second captain of the ship rather than simple the first mate. For as the time had passed Jane’s relationship with Joseph had grown and matured over the years, their affection for one another solidifying into an unbreakable bond. They were like two halves of the same whole, a fact that the crew had come to understand and respect, and in some cases deeply honor. Any new crew mates they picked up along their travels quickly learned of this bond and knew better than to try anything with Jane. Too many stories of the those who had been too stupid to learn that lesson and the ends they usually were met with. Joseph had kept his promise to her regarding the pups and though she had faithfully taken care of both the mother and son, only her pup remained. The old dog had passed the year before, leaving only her son, whom Jane had named Night due to his inky black coat. As promised, Jane spent hours a day training the dog to be obedient and loyal to his master. The only two he would listen to was Jane or Joseph, and between the two of them he would always go to Jane first. Now they were finally coming into port for the final time. Having made it around the treacherous waters off the tip of Africa and into the Asian continents. Only Joseph knew their final destination, finding it impossible to try and explain to Jane where they were headed since she had never gone to the Asian continent before in her life, and had no mental reference to even attempt to understand his course. As she called out orders to the crew to prepare for port, Night sitting patiently at her side as the well trained dog he was, she started to wonder just what else was in store for them. She knew better than to believe that they were finally bringing their journey to an end. | |

| Joseph's fimiluar steps creaked behind her.
The Gypsee mans hair was still as black as night, though now had one or two faint whisps of gray begining to show through. It looked like lightening streaking across the evening sky.
"We're headed for the Kirin Islands." He spoke, leaning heavilg on his walking stick.
Collins had passed two years ago, due to age more than anything. Matthew, the Cabbin boy, had taken over as the Medic, learning all the tricks of th trade-- including how to treat Joseph's back. Still, nothing could cure the many accumuated ailents and age. He was slowing down, and it was becoming apparentl in the past few weeks.
"Sirins are in the waters to come." he added, moving to stand close beside her, using the raining withhis walking stick proped up against it. "The men wont leave the ship in this port. Theyre none too welcome." he glanced to the emrals eyed beauty beside him. "Rumor has it, there's a Madame on this island who skinns men alive and wears their skin." | |
