Blood Obsession

Alice stood there, her victim slowly dying at her feet. Across her lips, she could still feel the taste of the boy’s blood, and the feeling of his neck against them. They held that tingly feeling they always did whenever she was done feeding, and the feeling inevitably made her reach up to touch them softly. As she pulled her fingers back to look at them, she could see the red coloring of the liquid she had just consumed. Her smile was simple as she looked upon the tips of her fingers, the tips of her long fingernails curving into what looked like rather sharp claws, but that simple smile made her look all the more demented.

She licked the blood of her fingers slowly, savoring the taste of the meal she had just enjoyed. She wasn’t quite sure how much longer it would take before she would be able to enjoy such a meal again. Looking down at the body of the boy below her she wondered for a second if he had any friends that would miss him. It didn’t take long for her to simply not care anymore, because in her mind the boy below her deserved to die. She had caught him trying to rape a girl, the woman in question already dead. While Alice felt justified in killing the boy, the girl also had to die, for she could not be allowed to live if she knew what Alive truly was.

Alice made her way back to the club she worked at, knowing the manager would begin looking for her soon. Her steps were light as she made her way through the dancing bodies of the club, the place being rather populated that night. The inhabitants of the Ball and Chain tended to either be people who were heavily into BDSM or were simply Goths who needed a dark place to party at night. Alice seemed to fit the bill for both of these genres, as her clothes were of the gothic Lolita style, and yet her demeanor screamed innocence. Due to these attributes, the club owner believed her to be the best for the job.

Once back to her station behind the bar, she began to serve drinks once more, the bartender shouting orders for her to fill and deliver to people.

Jacob walked into the club slowly, looking around."damn hate places like these." he thought to himself as he shuffled between the crowds of many dancers, alot of them were goths."never understood the gothic image...pretty weird" Jacob walked to a group at the far back."excuse me, I'm looking for this girl, she was last seen leaving the club...been missing for a week now" he shouted at the top of his lungs over the music. the group of goths all shook there head."maybe you should ask the bartender" Jacob nodded and carried on."everytime I ask a bartender they always too busy to talk" he sighed as he asked a number of people before retreating the bar area." just a beer please" the bartender nodded and opened a cold for him. he threw back the beer and placed the glass down."somethin has to be said for why someone would want to kidnap a 17 year old traumitised gothic girl?...some sicko's in the world I guess"

Jacob looked over his shoulder and noticed the young girl working at the bar, the times he had been here on different cases, he hadnt seen her before."damn Might aswell" he thought as he walked over."excuse me miss...but do you have a second?" he shouted over the music being played as best as he could

Alice turned, her black hair falling gracefully around her head. She was used to the bar club goers trying to make a pass at her. She was a rather beautiful creature. Usually she snubbed them, though occasionally when her thirst was high she’d take them out into the alley and satiate that thirst. This boy was different however. His demeanor wasn’t the same, and he had a look in his eyes that said he was on business not pleasure.

She smiled slightly and nodded, giving him the go ahead to ask whatever it was that required her attention. It was often someone came into the club that had actual business, and Alice was a very curious vampire.

he smiled and got out the picture, placing it on the counter and pushing it up."this girl has been missing for a week now...seems she was last seen leaving the club...I was just wondering if you know anythin...like if she left with anyone strange..." he smiled as he wiped his shirt down and looked in her eyes

Alice looked down at the picture, and her expression remained blank though her mind went reeling back to that night when she had saved this girl from getting raped. Though she had saved her from rape, she still had to kill the girl. No one who knew that she was not human could be allowed to live, and she knew. Killing the boy with your fangs and drinking him dry was definitely evidence enough of her true nature.

She looked from the photo to the man she now knew to be an investigator of some sort. Police perhaps? Or a private one sent by the family? It did not really matter to the girl. Either way she could dispose of him if it became necessary.

“I’ve not seen her for a week.” She said softly, and yet somehow her words reached his ears loud and clear over the sound the music.

Jacob looked at the girl, he had a feeling she wasnt being truthful, but this was only a instinct feeling.he looked around and and bowed his head closer."to be honest...Im not working with the police...CIA is more like...I'm part of a specialist group...we look into strange disappearences...thank you for your time but if you ever remember anythin, or if you have trouble yourself...call me" he reached into his pocket, placing the picture in, and taking out a card." see you soon" he smiled, giving a its not over like look to her."obviously this wasnt a good idea' he walked outside the club. the rain poured heavier than before."damn Ryan...must have lleft...oh well" he sighed as he then made his down the street, thinking about the possibilites of the case

Alice continued her shift, keeping the man’s card in her dress pocket. Jacob was his name. She had read that much on the card. Specialist unit. She knew of this group. They hunted her kind. Anything not human was their prey. They merely used the CIA as a front for their activities. Or perhaps he was merely a grunt and not yet worthy of their upper ranks? Did he truly not know about her world?

These thoughts swam around her head as she served the customers. A disappearance of a CIA member would bring the hounds sniffing, she knew that. Even if he did know nothing, the higher ups would not allow one of their members to simply become dinner. She would have to run again. Leave behind her home and find another city to inhabit. It was not a pleasant prospect.

She decided to leave the Ball and Chain early that night. The manager would never fire her, and there was more important things to be doing. Like figuring out how much this Jacob truly knew.

Jacob knew about his job when he was reccomended for it, after solving the butcher case."they told me not to be freaked out with the cases I'll be given...but this one...its not...somethin is weird about it" he thought to himself, prepping his coat up as the rain oured faster and heavier. he smirked as he carried on back to his apartment."Hopefully Eve will be sound asleep when I get in." he then cut through the nearby park, being a shortcut to his apartment."I mean..she can't be trapped...in that..that place right?" he thought, thinking back to the case

Alice followed the man’s scent until she reached him walking through a park. Such was a fitting place for a death, she thought to herself. That park had seen so much sadness over the years. Kidnappings, rapes, murders, gang fights, drug deals, and so much more. By day it was a beautiful play to play for children. By night it was the devils playground so to speak. Or at the very least, it was Alice’s.

Jacob seemed to be unaware of the danger such an area provided. Or perhaps he was confident in his ability to stay safe. She was not sure. Either way, he seemed to be on his way home, so the investigation for now was done. He would be back tomorrow of course, and find her he would not. Only at night did Alice prowl.

And prowl she did. Blood called to her on this moonless night.

Jacob felt uneasy, he knew somethin was following him...but that made it even worse, the feeling of not knowing what it was." somethin must be out there...I hope its human" he said to himself, as his last case, he had a run ins with disturbing creatures, not vampires, not even animalistic, but they moved around as if they were ghosts, but their form was twisted to match their sins. he knew they were classed as the tormented, souls bound to this realm for the sins of their life. but this feeling was as static, for one his phone didnt emmit a strange screech, and the park looked normal under the night. "must be some thugs" he thought to himself. he quickly reached and got out his gun."if anyones there please come out." he said"Damn that was lame..." he thought to himself once more as pointed forward and looked around

Alice watched carefully from the shadows, judging what he was going to do next. He intrigued her. Like no human had ever intrigued her before. Had she known what this feeling was she may have run from the scene. May have tried to escape creating a past that was to be much like her own.

The feeling nudging Alice on was the same one that assaulted her creator when he saw her. That same niggling feeling that said this one was different. This one was not food. He had kept her “saved her” however as a last resort to keeping his mortal bloodline alive. Her family dead and gone, she was all that was left. Of course he was there too, but he no longer counted himself as a member of the blood.

He would not have bothered to turn her however had it not been for that feeling. A feeling that was hard to put into words yet was as palpable as the hatred between enemies.

Jacob sighed."looks like I'm goin insane..." he said as he placed his gun bakc in the holster. just then somone grabbed, restraining his arms. another kid walked up holding a knife to his throat."you better give us ya money" Jacob laughed, headbutting the kid in the face, while the larger kid tried to punch, to which Jacob grabbed his arm, twisting it and then punched it at the elbow, breaking it quite gruesomely. the other kid ran forward with the knife. Jacob side stepped and grabbed his wrist, and kicked him in the stomach."as much as this is fun, my girlfreind is alone at home...hopefulle you 2 will have learned your lesson now?" Jacob laughed mockingly as he carried. the 2 thugs rolling in pain

Alice laughed her chime like laugh and gracefully moved into view. The two thugs were stunned by her, and for a moment stopped their howling. She was so petite and child-like, and yet an air of seduction ran around her like silk. These boys couldn’t help but fall for that charm, and already they found themselves trying to come towards her.

“I apologize for this disturbance sir.” She said lightly, having already decided what she would do with these two boys. Seeing his reaction would tell her for certain if he knew what she was.

“My brothers don’t know when its time to quit, now do you boys?” she asked, one graceful brow arching.

They mumbled their replies to entranced to come out with a coherent sentence. It hadn’t really registered what she’d said either.

“Ill take them home now.” The words were light, but rang with a command. The completion of her spell. They got to their feet and shuffled over to her. To an unwise eye they looked like boys who had been scolded and were simply dragging their feet, afraid of the lecture at home. Or perhaps simply too beaten up to move properly, since the trouncing they had just gotten. The thug’s arm that had been broken hung useless at his side, and he seemed to wince every once on a while at the pain, but otherwise ignored it.

Jacob stopped for a moment and looked over to the girl and smiled."hey...they are lucky they were kids...but no harm done" he smiled as he waved and turned back to head home."she was from the club...how did she get there so quick?...unless she was following me?...hmmm...she may know more than I thought..." he thought to himself, with a bemused look on his face. as he turned his key and walked in he threw his jacket on the couch."looks like Eve is in bed...' he thought to himself as he poured a glass of water, and guzzled it down quickly. he walked into his room and sat down on the bed, he watched Eve sleep, moving some strands of hair from out of her face. he took off his shirt and threw it down, lying next her

Alice took the two boys with her, her eyes red eyes glinting. So he didn’t know what she was, she thought to herself. Any other member of that specialist CIA group would never have let her take these boys. But his mistake was her great gain. She wasn’t particularly thirsty tonight, but it wouldn’t hurt to satiate any hunger she may have.

She took the boys to a darkened alley, and before they had time to move she drank them dry, leaving each boy nothing more than a husk of skin and tissue.

By the time she was done, and had cleaned herself up a bit the sun was beginning to rise. Quickly she slipped through the shadows back to her home. Before the sun completely rose she was out, her body resting until it was safe to emerge once more.

Jacob slowly woke up, alone in the bed."looks she got up early" he smiled getting up and opening the curtains, sun rays blazed through as he covered his eyes." a mid month day of summer...great" he said as he got some clean clothes vout of his wardrobe and walked into the bathroom. after 30 minutes he walked back out, his hair slightly wet, his clothes were put on rushly. he walked into the kitchen, Eve sat on the stool, holding 2 cups of coffee. Jacob kissed her deeply and took the cup."you were late last night." she said as jacob took a sip."its the case...third person to go missing from the club in 2 weeks..." he said with a sigh."Jacob...this job...I have a bad feeling." Jacob just looked away."not this again eve..please" he said as she held his face gently, looking into his eyes directly."I love you...but I get physically sick...not knowing your okay.."she said, almost tears in her eyes."its m job babe...I cant help it"

Alice spent the day lost in the darkness. Day time was the only period when a vampire was ever truly vulnerable which was why they kept their hideouts so well hidden. Alice spent her day in her own dark corner of life, where no human had ever entered and lived to tell the tale.

Resting for a vampire involved nothing more than the body shutting down for a period of time, allowing the vampire’s mind to continue working as well as it always did. Only, during “rest” the mind could work even faster because there was no mental workings of moving, working, or any myriad of things.

In this state Alice thought about many things. She thought about the boys and the bodies she had purposefully left to be found. How she had ripped them to shreds with her claws, leaving the police to think they were the victims of a rabid animal attack. She wondered if the agent named Jacob would fall for her ploy and decide that a wild animal was behind the young girls disappearance as well. Or would he see that there was no blood at the scene? Would he realize the cuts were too clean for a rabid animal, and far too precise? This thoughts occupied her mind, and as the hours toward sunset progressed, fewer and fewer thoughts crossed her mind that didn’t have to do with Jacob.

Jacob walked into the morgue."so tell me about this animal attack doc" he said, sipping at a cup of coffee."well these 2 kids were found outside the park...ripped to shreds as if an animal attacked them...it really is a gruesome...and another thing..the larger of the 2...had a broken arm..."Jacob looked curiously at the doctor, pealing the sheets off both."doc...these kids tried to rob me...hence the broken arm..but their sister scolded them and left.." the doctor shook his head."these 3 are not related...and both of them dont have a sister...infact the smaller kid is part of a wealthy family..."

Jacob looked at the doctor and then examined the marks closely." this isnt a animal attack...the claw marks are very precise...plus they are straight, instead of jagged...and there clean too...no signs of dirt entering, or saliva left in them." he thought to himself as he then noticed on both of their necks were puncture wounds, very small," hmmm..interesting.." he then motion the doctor."care to explain this?" the doctor put on his thick rimmed glasses and examined closely."well...I would say that whatever animal attacked them, stopped and drained them of their blood...that would explain the clean crime scene"Jacob was confused, he never saw an animal this precise in their attacks, or even stop to clean up. then there was the infomation he had got earlier."the girl wasnt their sister?." he rubbed his head." I'll go talk to the chief..." he then got his coffee and coat, and left the room

The cheif of police had seen quite a few things go wrong in that city. He was a hard man, having seen so much struggle, life, and death during his tenure as a police officer. Almost all of them had made sense to him however. Only a few murders had ever made him stratch his head in confusion, and this was the first time he was downright frustrated.

He already had the CIA invading his office because of some people going missing. A classic case of running away he figured. They were all goth junkies, attracted to that despicable Ball and Chain place simply because they could be their freaky selves. So they went missing? No need to have some random guy from some office he'd never heard of coming and taking over his charges.

Just thinking about Jacob of course seemed to magically summon him, as he walked into the cheifs office.

Jacob finished his coffee, throwing the cup into the trash can. he walked slowly to the cheifs office, to give his report on the morgue. he preffered to tell the heads personallly, as he considered writing it out a pain. he looked around, as many police gave him evil looks, but this didnt affect him at all."they need my help...otherwise I wouldnt be here." he said sighing as he walked into the cheif's office." hey sir...I checked out the bodies in the morgue...looks like it was more than a animal....the wounds were too clean and straight edged...plus from what I was told, the crime scene didnt have much blood around, which the holes on both necks, tell me they were drained of blood..." he retorted formally."this is the part were he gives me a lecture, about his men, his status and rank, and about my job...great" he thought to himself

The chief couldn’t help himself. He laughed. A full bellied, out right laugh.

“Are you kidding me kid?” he asked, his mustache looking more and more like a dead rat on his face.

“What else could have killed em? This is a clear cut answer here. There’s some wild animal out there that some nut job let loose. Probably got eaten himself too. Thing was probably pretty hungry too Id bet, and licked that ground clean before we got there and carted the bodies away from it. Plenty of animals do that. And I thought you were some CIA detective, not an animal expert. How you know how they cut things?”

The chief raised an eyebrow in condemnation and laughed again.

“Just let my boys find this animal Jacob, and you go back to hunting for your runaway goth freaks.”

Jacob smirked and sot on his desk." you see cheif...I dont know wether you know of the butcher case...before I joined the specialist unit, I worked extensively on the case..solving it single handedly...and your right I'm no animal expert..but I know of cuts and wounds...Medic school dropout too hehe...a claw wound is jagged and dirty, since the animal would be walking in dirt quite alot...these wounds were precise, severing major organs with surgical accuracy...and if the animal was hungry, dont you think the bodies would be truly mutilated?...I maybe young and least experienced than you...but you have never seen what I have...so why dont you just sit down, ask for a cup fo coffee and let me solve this case...I mean, thats why i'm here....to actually investigate...not like your men...just sitting around the office all day eating donuts and writing up fake reports on how they did not beat that kid up brutally...you and this entire force is the reason why I joined the CIA..." he said in an amolst ocking tone, with a smug expression."if you dont like it then I can always take this problem up with my superiors" he smiled

The more Jacob talked, the more blotchy red the chiefs face got. As he turned more and more purple, he was only seconds from yelling at the little upstart and kicking his ass back to whatever place the CIA picked up their dogs. But with the comment about contacting his superiors, the chief noticeably calmed down. He was still furious, but he wouldn’t do anything outright to the boy. He didn’t need more CIA people overturning his office.

“Alright then. Go find your ‘killer.’” he said, his voice strangely calm. “Just don’t expect any help from this office or my boys. You got that?”

It was a rhetorical question, as the chief didn’t even bother to wait for a response before he turned away from Jacob entirely.
