| Welcome to Solomnus Academy for the Paranormally Gifted!
Thank you for choosing Solomnus Academy! Solomnus is the premiere private boarding school for paranormally and supernaturally talented youths in all of Western Europe. We offer a safe, secure, and most important, private atmosphere, in which your child can gain a valuable and well-rounded education.
About Solomnus Solomnus Academy was formed in 1857 by druid and social anthropologist, Edward Burnett Tylor. Since its formation, Solomnus’ motto has been “Secret, Safe, and Secure”. We at Solomnus are dedicated to ensuring that our students can grow in a healthy environment, without fear of judgment or persecution. As such, Solomnus is nestled deep into the woodlands on a privately owned section of the British Isles, far from the scrutinizing eyes of the public. Our remote location, along with our own “private security force”, guarantees your child’s safety and well being while they learn to harness their natural gifts.
Academics At Solomnus, your child will join a tightly knit community of students, teachers, scholars, and researchers, all committed to bettering themselves, their school, and society in general. Solomnus offers the most highly-diverse and highly-renowned academic program in all of Western Europe, teaching students from the age of 14 to 19 (equivalent of grades 9th through 13th, respectively). Our courses range from the basics, such as math, history, science, and art, to more precise subjects such as alchemy, swordsmanship, and archery. We also offer courses on blending in with society, as well as personalized training courses to help your child control and master their natural gifts. At present, our specific training courses include but are not limited to the following groups/beings: Vampires, Werewolves, Faeries, Spirits, Shapeshifters, Telepaths, Practitioners of Magic and/or Witchcraft, Deities, Demigods, and the Descendants of any Aforementioned Beings.
Dormitories As Solomnus is a boarding school, all students will take residence in the on campus dormitories which are located in the upper east wing of the Academy itself. Our dormitories consist of two luxurious bedrooms, separated in the middle by a joint living area. This gives our students the ability to socialize and make new friends, while still having a private area in which to study and practice their gifts. Every floor of our dormitories has several bathrooms, complete with private showers, so as to ensure a comfortable living situation. Our dormitories are co-ed*, so as to breed better relations between our students. Our dormitory bathrooms however, are not co-ed, for obvious reasons. *While dormitories are co-ed, room selection is picked on a first-come, first serve basis. If you have specific requirements or needs, please contact the residency office prior to the start of the semester, so as to ensure that your requests are met.
Discipline Solomnus is a secure and healthy learning institution. As such, all forms of disobedience, civil unrest, class disruption, or fighting are frowned upon greatly and in their occurrence, the perpetrators will be severely punished.
A Final Word Solomnus Academy for the Paranormally Gifted is more than just a school. At Solomnus, we are a family, and with that family, we hope to work towards a brighter future and a better tomorrow. For over 150 years now, Solomnus has been working on raising paranormal awareness, without imperiling our culture. We march on, in the hopes that one day those born with supernatural talents can, as the vampires say, “come out of the coffin”. We at Solomnus thank you for ensuring your child’s education, and thus the very future, with our dedicated staff. Your time and trust is greatly appreciated, and we look forward to seeing your child on the first day of the Semester, September 25th. Til then, stay Secret, Safe, and Secure.
Sincerely, Elizibeth Ravensdale Headmistress and President of Admissions.

| “There, that should do it.”
Caine smiled to himself as he unpacked the last of his possessions, an AC-DC calendar his brother had given him, and hung it on his dorm room wall. After making sure it was straight, he took the beaten up cardboard box, that had ‘til recently held his personal affects, and stuck it in the corner by his dresser as a trash can for later. Then, with a satisfied nod, he sat down on his bed and surveyed his handiwork.
“Cool. I already got my room finished and the first day hasn’t even started yet.”
Caine was right. As the newly hung calendar on the wall verified, today was September 24th. The school semester didn’t start until tomorrow, the 25th, which as luck would have it, also happened to be Caine’s birthday. Caine figured most teenagers wouldn’t think of school as an awesome way to spend their 15th birthday, but he couldn’t be more excited. Solomnus Academy for the Paranormally Gifted was probably his favorite place on the planet, even more than that weird theme park with the mouse he had snuck into as a kid. He didn’t really know why. If you asked him, he probably wouldn’t be able to tell you.
If he said it was because of all the friends he had made, and because of how popular he was among his peers, that would be, in no uncertain terms, a lie. Caine, despite being a second year at Solomnus, could count the students that knew him on one hand, and the amount of them that were his friends on even less. If he said it was because Solomnus allowed him to train and master his innate abilities, that would also be, in essence, a lie. Caine was a bit of an oddity around Solomnus, for even though he was already turning 15 years of age, two years older than the latest of supernatural bloomers, he had yet to show even the smallest inkling of powers of any kind, aside from an allergy to shellfish.
No, the simplest and most likely reason that Caine enjoyed Solomnus Academy so much, would be because it was the closest thing to a stable home he had ever had. Caine had grown up with his mother, who was indeed a caring and devoted parent, but who had suffered many losses in her life, and was, to her and her children’s dismay, on the unfortunate side of the poverty line. As such, they had moved frequently during Caine’s childhood as his mother went from temporary job to temporary job, toeing the line between survival and starvation. Luckily for Caine during all this, he had not been alone. His older half-brother, Lex, had been there as well, and had looked out for and protected him.
Lex, who was popular. Lex, who had developed his latent abilities when he was eleven. Lex, who like the rest of the student body, wouldn’t be showing up to Solomnus ‘til tomorrow.
This didn’t bother Caine though, not in the slightest. He liked the quiet, and was looking forward to having his dormitory all to himself, at least until tomorrow. He was curious however as to the identity of his new roommate. Caine had been lucky enough to keep the same dorm room he had had since he started, but his old roommate, a Vampire by the name of Stan Murphy, had graduated the year previous.
Stan had been a good roommate, and had been the closest thing to a friend at school Caine had had, even if he was a bit cooky. Stan hadn’t been, as Caine had been inclined to think, combustible in sun light, although he did wear long sleeves and sun glasses at all of his day classes. Nor had he had an aversion to garlic, as he had loved the smell of Italian food. He had however, thoroughly disliked certain things, such as silver and Twilight fans.
He knew it was considered rude, but Caine couldn’t help wondering about his new roommate. Were they going to be another Vampire like Stan? What if they were something else? Caine had taken a while to adjust his living habits with Stan, getting use to blood in the fridge and not having salt and all. Would it take him a while with this new person if they were something else? What if they were a werewolf or something? That would mean he would get a night to himself every month. Or if they were a telepath? That could complicate things.
“Oh well, guess I’ll find out tomorrow.”
With that, Caine hopped off his bed, and grabbing his sketchbook and pencil from his nightstand, he walked out into the living room, shutting his door behind him. The dorm living quarters were nice, with ample space and furniture. The room was about 20’ by 18’, with the door out to the hall in the middle of the back wall. The wall opposite that had large gothic windows that looked out over the fields, the school gardens, and beyond that, the forest. There was a small kitchen in the corner, complete with fridge, oven, and counters, and in the living area were two arm chairs, a small sofa, a coffee table, and a television.
It was an overcast day, but despite that, there was plenty of animal activity on the grounds. Sitting himself in his favored arm chair, Caine began to draw a group of birds that were playing amongst the newly budding pumpkin patch. Losing himself in his preferred hobby, he relaxed and just enjoyed the peace and quiet of his empty apartment.

| Luna stared up at the forbidding building and sighed. She didn’t want to be here at Solumnus. If it wasn’t for one small problem then she could’ve been just like her cousins and not have to go away to some boarding school for freaks. Well, I guess you can’t really call Luna’s…predicament, small. Luna was a shape shifter, and not just any kind of shape shifter. Most could only turn into one animal, or simply change their human appearance at will. Luna could do and then some. She could do something as small as change her hair or eye color, or she could change into any animal of her choice. As long as she’d seen the picture of said animal she could do it. That wasn’t limited either by animals that were actually alive or even existed for that matter. If she wanted to she could combine the mouth of a komodo dragon with the body of a goat. Not that she had ever particularly fancied doing that before. It had been a natural talent for her, from the moment she had been born she had constantly changed little things about herself, until one day when she was four she had gotten so mad at her mother that she’d turned into the neighbors bull dog and bit her. Her parents hadn’t been terribly surprised that she was born with such an ability. After all, her mother was a well accomplished witch, and her father had been a shape shifter himself, although his power was limited to only one animal. It was the depth of her ability that had been astonishing. Her mother had hoped that they could train her themselves, and like her cousins raise her in a normal school setting while teaching her the magical arts at home. This arrangement would have worked out just fine really, if Luna could control her reactions to things better and she wasn’t such a problem child. She was constantly getting in fights, pulling pranks on other students, and scaring the crap out of them by changing when they weren’t looking so they were constantly guessing what was going on. Her parents couldn’t control her, and they couldn’t teach her how to control herself either, neither of them having the experience with her particular gift. So they sent her to Solumnus, where her particular talents would blend into the crowd and the school could curb their wayward daughter. Hitching up her bag back onto her shoulder she walked into the main hall, keeping the scowl on her face as students jostled here and there trying to get their class schedules and room assignments. September 25th and everybody was filing into the school like it was a bloody holiday. Everyone would arrive that day and, according to her little pamphlet she had received with her room key, the evening feast would happen at 6 in the dining hall as was tradition where everyone would be welcomed. Formal classes would start the next day after the students had made themselves comfortable and adjusted to their new surroundings. ‘Fat chance of that’ , Luna thought darkly as she made her way to her room. When she opened the door no one was around. ‘Maybe I got a room to myself.’ she thought to herself for a moment before she noticed that one of the rooms was indeed taken, the students name magically carved onto the plaque on the door. She groaned but threw her things into her room anyways, unsurprised when her name appeared on the plaque outside her door. She plopped down on the couch and stared at the ceiling, not sure how she felt about all this yet. She could hear the other students running around and meeting new people or introducing themselves to make new friends, but Luna could have cared less. She just wanted to go home, back to her large and wacky family and her own bed. Before she knew it she had fallen asleep on the couch, her mouth open slightly as she snored. | |

| Lex made his way through the crowded main hall of the Academy. He was sporting his best leather jacket with Back In Black blasting in one of his ears, his pack slung longways over his shoulder. There was a bounce in his step and a smirk on his lips, both adding to the mischievous glint in his eye that spelled disaster for some poor professor. As he walked, a multitude of "Hey"s and "Hello"s rang out at him, and he responded appropriately to each, wether it was with a wave, a high-five, or in some pretty cases, a kiss on the cheek. A few teachers were in the hall, and their stern faces flashed serious stares, but Lex couldn't be bothered by something like that.
This was his school, his turf, and it felt good to be back. It was only barely afternoon, and Lex's day had already been packed with excitement. Between raiding the kitchen stores, leaving some nasty spiders in the Head of Discipline's office, and setting a particularly douchey warlock's robes on fire, his day had been off to a good start. All that was left on his checklist was to go move in to his dorm.
That, and make sure that his stupid little brother wasn't sitting alone in his room somewhere, missing the fun.
Lex left the main hall, heading for the east wing where the dormitories were. He was about halfway there when he ran into a familiar face, a werewolf by the name of Riley Kross. Riley was a 4th year, a little slow and a bit of a prankster, but nothing too dangerous.
"Hey Marcos. Me and a couple of 4th years were planning on raiding the kitchen. Wanna join?"
Lex smiled and patted his bag. "Nah Riley, there wouldn't be a point. I already hit there this morning. Besides," he said with a wink, "you shouldn't ruin your appetite before dinner."
"Oh," Riley nodded, "K well if you change your mind we'll be in the main hall."
Lex nodded, and after patting Riley on the shoulder, he was back on his way.
A few moments later, Lex was on his brother's floor. Caine's dorm was on the third level, which meant it was on Lex's way, whose dorm was up in the east tower. Pausing at his brother's door, Lex took a second to make sure that Caine was actually home by silently jiggling the handle.
Yep, unlocked. Hehe... sweet.
With a loud slam, Lex through the door open, bursting out into his best impression of a drunken mariachi singing Happy Birthday.
"HAPPY BIRRRRRRRRRRTHDAY TO YOU!!!....."

| Luna had been having quite a nice nap, dreaming about punching babies or something. Well not something quite that disturbing but still rather violent and angry. She was getting out her frustration at being sent away through her dreams, imagining all sorts of things that she couldn’t do in real life without getting in a lot of trouble. That is, she was, until a loud and obnoxious boy woke her up. “ARGH!!!” She yelled, nearly jumping clean out of her skin, literally falling off the couch. Her purple streaked hair falling into her face. She flipped her hair out of her eyes and literally growled at the offending person, a rather tall guy with spiky black hair and a surprised expression on his face. “You Jackass!!” She screeched, picking herself up off the floor, her teal colored eyes glaring at him hard. She brushed herself off violently, straightening her shirt. Even angry and dangerous looking, Luna was rather pretty. “Whats your problem?! Barging in on people’s room like that?!” | |

| Lex stopped singing when the mysterious girl started screaming. At first, he thought he had burst into the wrong room, but one look at the door on the far side of the room confirmed that this was Caine's dorm. The gear's in Lex's head came to an abrupt halt.
There's a girl... there's a PRETTY girl... in my brothers room.
Lex was confused. Lex was confused, and there was a pretty girl standing in front of him, angry though she may be. So Lex did the first thing that came to mind.
Mustering all the false pomp that he could come up with after being thoroughly startled, Lex swept his arm into a low and somewhat humorous bow. Then, smirking a little, he took a step forward despite the obvious promises of death singing in the pretty girl's eyes.
"Miss, you have my apologies. There has been some grievous error. I was stopping in to check on my poor little brother, whose birthday is today. It seems instead that I've stumbled upon a vision of loveliness, in a most rude and bracing manner. Here, please, let me make it up to you."
With a wink and a smile, Lex dropped his bag, swinging it open and removing a bottle of red wine from inside.
It's a good thing i grabbed two. Phew!
Holding it out towards the mystery girl, Lex flashed another smile.
"Allow me to introduce myself. The name's Lex."

| Luna’s jaw dropped in a most unladylike manner. She couldn’t believe this guy. First she’d been taking a lovely nap only to be awoken by some loud and obnoxious guy who then proceeded to what, try and woo her? And her parents thought she had problems.
“You’re serious?” She asked, her expression dumbstruck. She swung her head around quickly to look at the name on the door opposite her own, just to double check that this psycho really wasn’t her roommate. She sighed in relief when she saw his name was not up there and turned to look at him again, crossing her arms across her chest.
“If you think a bottle of cheap kitchen wine, that’s been watered down by the cooks for our consumption, is gonna win me over you’ve got another thing coming buddy.” Suddenly an idea crossed her mind and she smirked, her eyes glinting mischievously.
She walked towards him, each step making his grin a bit wider before she reached out and lightly brushed his hand as she took the bottle.
“But I’ll be taking this.” She said silkily, laughing internally at his awestruck face.
He must think that I’m hitting on him.
Taking the wine bottle she walked over to the door, which was still wide open from when he had barged in.
“Have a great time waiting for your brother.” She said, slamming the door shut and pulling a nearby armchair over to place against the door knob so he couldn’t open the door.
Running a hand through her hair she smiled and started walking down the hall. Now to find the roof and enjoy her free bottle of wine.

| That didn't just happen... it couldn't have...it...
Lex was dumbstruck, and, minus the clinical definition, in shock. He was Lex. This was his school. Every girl wanted him. And no one had tried something like LOCKING HIM IN A DORM since his first year. At least, not a girl anyways. And no one, male or female, had succeeded.
...
"WHAT THE HELL!!!"
Yes, Lex was in shock.
Lex ran against the door, slamming into it with his shoulder. Nothing happened.
He twisted the knob. He got a running start. He tried kicking it out.
...nothing happened.
A faint glimmer of red started to creep into Lex's eyes. He was, officially, getting pissed. Who was that crazy chick? What had she been doing here? And why the HELL had she reacted so badly to a SIMPLE APOLOGY?! Sure, he had been hitting on her, maybe a little, but he hadn't been rude. He wasn't ugly or anything. He was LEX for Christ's sake!
After a new series of escape attempts failed, Lex started pacing back and forth, building himself up more and more. He mulled it over in his head, calling the mystery girl a lot of words not suitable for normal society. Then, when he was ready to explode, he swung his fist out and connected with the nearest wall, which unfortunately for him was rather hard.
The pain in his hand only fueled his irritation, but Lex quickly calmed down when he made the sobering realization that, in his anger, he had set the curtains on fire. With more speed than he knew he had, Lex swept off his jacket and patted out the flames. Then with a groan, he looked at his handiwork.
Ugh. I don't care about the curtains, but now my coat is charred. Again!
With a sigh, Lex leaned against the wall and fell to the ground.
And today was going so well. I mean th-... hold on a second!
Lex's eyes fell on the silver plaque that wasn't on his brother's door. When he read the name, something clicked in his brain, and everything fell into place. She was his roommate! That meant she had to come back eventually, which meant that sooner or later, he would get a second chance. Except this time, he wouldn't be hitting on her, and he wouldn't be so nice.
Luna Celence, eh? ...Oh, it's on.

| Luna had eventually found the stairwell that had led her to the beautiful solitude of the roof, the large expanse inviting and perfectly catching the waning light of the sun as it made its way lazily through the sky. At least it had been peaceful solitude until a bunch of guys had shown up with more wine and even beer, talking about a party. They had stopped abruptly when they saw her sitting there alone, a wine bottle half empty in her hand.
“Hey whatcha doing all alone up here pretty lady?”
Oh my god is everybody in this school like that douche bag? Of course, the only thing that could possibly be called douche bag at this point was Lex.
“What does it look like I’m doing?” She said harshly, taking another swig off the bottle before getting up.
“Ah don’t go.” another guy added. “My names Davon. You could always party with us.”
“Luna.” She replied, putting the bottle down and leaving it with them, deciding that Davon didn’t seem like a total ass. “And I have other places to be. Sorry boys.” she said, a flirtatious smile gracing her lips.
Collectively they made a big show of how sad they were and how much she should stay. Before she knew it they had an actual civil conversation where she found out they were all in the same class.
“Guess I’ll see you tomorrow then.” She said, as she slipped through the door and back to the stairwell as the guys looked after her hungrily.
Boys are way too easy.
She chuckled to herself as she staggered back to her dorm, the wine being a bit stronger than she expected. She got all the way down the hallway, giggling to herself until she saw the still closed door with the chair blocking it.
“Fuck.” She muttered, wondering how the hell she was going to get into her room without having to deal with Lex, who at this point was probably beyond pissed.

| Caine smiled to himself as he walked back to his dorm, the wrapped up leftovers of a roast beef sandwhich in his hands. He had left about two hours earlier to get something to eat, and when he had finished, he had taken a walk around the school grounds to avoid the bustle in the main hall. Hmm. I wonder if Lex is here yet?As Caine reached the top of the stairs leading to the third floor, he was met with a very strange sight. First of all, his dorm room door had an arm chair propped against the handle, in the fashion you see in movies to lock somebody in. Secondly, there was a girl, who looked nice enough, but who was standing outside his room, seeming rather incapable of maintaining a vertical countenance. He didn't know if she was sick, or possibly inebriated, but she didn't look altogether well. He walked over to her, smiling and waving to get her attention. "Um, Hi. My name's Caine. Are you all right?" | |

| She stared at the door, her mind trying to figure out what to do, before it actually registered that there was someone else there. Turning slowly she saw another guy, They’re everywhere… she thought to herself before she responded.
“Oh I’m bloody brilliant. Except that there’s a douche bag I locked into my room and now I’m not sure how to get him out.”
It became pretty obvious rather quickly that she was a bit intoxicated. Especially when it finally clicked what he said his name was.
“Wait…Caine? As in brother to the biggest asshole in the world Caine?” She paused for a moment, a hand on her hip before she stuck out her other hand for him to shake.
“Nice to meet you. I’m your new roommate Luna.”

| Caine bursted out laughing. It was a strange sound, even to him, because he rarely found things that he actually thought were humorous. Then, he extended his hand and gently returned Luna's greeting. "Nice to meet you Luna." he said with a smile. Then, he looked back at the arm pressed against the door, shaking his head. "I see you met Lex, which means this is your handiwork. I'm sorry about my brother, although I'm afraid to ask what he did this time. He's a bit much sometimes. Hehe." Great going Lex. Get on the wrong side of my new roommate before I even meet them.. Caine sighed. "I'm guessing you want to get back in the room? Well, knowing my brother, he's got a bit of a temper, so I should probably go in first." Caine smiled and then turned to face the door. He wondered what Lex had done, but part of him honestly didn't want to know. Luna seemed nice enough, if a little drunk, and Lex had a history of causing problems. Oh well, thought Caine. Just another fight of his I have to solve. He's good with fists but that brain of him is missing some parts.Moving forward, Caine pulled the arm chair aside, before grabbing the door handle and swinging it open. Lex was ready. He knew she had to come back sooner or later, and he was going to have the last laugh, if not several. He knew it was petty, he knew it was childish, but goddamnit he was still irked and he wasn't going to forgive getting locked in a dorm so easily. As soon as the door opened, he sprung into action, letting the contents of the bucket he had found under the sink fly. The water, which he had been chilling with ice constantly for the past thirty minutes, arched through the air like some hungry beast before it crashed face first into it's unsuspecting victim."AAUGHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!" "HAHA! TAKE THAT YOU CONNIVING BAT-FACED MONKEY LOVING BI-... Um,... Caine?"Caine stood shaking, dripping from head to foot in the doorway, a puddle of icy water gathering at his feet. From under his soaked hair, he glared at his brother, more than a little peeved. Lex stood there, lost for words, confusion evident on his features. Then, with a shrug, he half-smiled.
"Well, um... Happy Birthday little bro."

| When she heard Caine yell she ducked her head around the corner to see what had happened. At that moment she was so glad she hadn’t opened the door first. There he was, covered in ice cold water and dripping on the floor, and there stood Lex, looking sheepish and yet still so damn cocky. She was really going to have to take him down a peg.
That is after she got done laughing at the whole situation. She knew she shouldn’t be laughing of course. The bucket of water had been meant for her and if Caine hadn’t been a gentlemen and faced his brother for her she would have definitely gotten drenched. But it was just so damn funny, especially the insults that had flown from Lex’s mouth when he had thought he’d gotten her.
“Looking for me?” She said, still giggling. She stepped into the room and patted Caine on the shoulder.
“Thanks for taking that for me. I owe you. Happy birthday by the way.”
She smiled as she walked over to her room, the two boys in the room too dumbstruck to say much of anything.
“Oh and Lex? Bat faced Monkey loving? Learn some new insults or your lack of brain cells will start showing.” With that said she laughed loudly and closed her bedroom door, the lock clicking audibly in the silent room.

| As the door clicked on Luna's room, Lex muttered something under his breath that wasn't exactly complimentary. Then, he turned to his still dripping brother, an apologetic grimace on his face.
"Little bro, you don't understand. This is all her fault! Ok, maybe the water was a little my fault, but the rest was all her. She-"A glare from Caine silenced anything Lex else had to say. Then, still dripping, he walked over to the sink, setting his now soggy sandwich down, and grabbing a dish towel to attempt to dry his hair with. "Lex, I really don't want to hear it. Not right now. Luna seems perfectly nice, and I don't know what you did to get locked in here, but I'm relatively sure that, if you'll excuse my language, it's your own damn fault." Then, after futilely trying to dry his hair, he said "Can you run to the bathroom and grab some towels, please?" Lex was about to say something, probably an excuse, but seeing his brother's sorry state, he thought against it. With a nod, he ran out of the room, returning a few moments later with two white linen towels. Tossing one to Caine, he let out a small chuckle.
"I really am sorry about the water. That wasn't the birthday present I was intending on giving you."Caine smiled. "It's ok. You can make up for it by cleaning up this mess while I go change for the welcoming feast. Sorry about snapping. Must have been the ice talking." After a shared chuckle and nod, Caine went into his room and closed the door. Meanwhile, Lex started soaking up the water, wringing it out into the bucket he had used earlier. He finished a few moments before Caine came back out, dressed in a nice, and more importantly dry, change of clothes."So, ready to start heading down to dinner?" " Yeah, just give me a minute to run my bag up to my room. But before I do, there's something I still need to give you."
With that, Lex walked over to his bag and pulled out a nicely wrapped package and a paper bag. Then, he handed the to Caine, a smile on his face,
"These are your real presents. The package is from mom. The other one's from me.""I figured that out, mostly because mom's wrapping job says 'Happy Birthday', and yours says 'SAFEWAY'". With a chuckle, Caine opened up the present from his Mom, which turned out to a be a copy of 'Crime & Punishment'. Then he opened the paper bag, which contained a switchblade, a Led Zepplin CD, and a bottle of wine. He set them aside on the kitchen counter before smiling at his dumbass brother. "Thank you. Seriously." "Don't mention it. Happy Birthday little bro. Now just hold tight while I run to my room. I'll be right back." Then, with a gesture at Luna's room, he whispered "Don't get eaten by the harpy while I'm gone."After Lex left, Caine walked over to Luna's door. After hesitating for a moment, he knocked gently and called out: "Hey Luna. We were going to go down to the Feast. You can come with us if you like. My brother probably won't stay very long and you don't have to sit with us. Or, if you...um... don't feel up to it yet, we can always bring you something back."

| Luna had been laying on her bed, having spent the time unpacking her few belongings while the two boys had been talking. The alcohol was already wearing off, her system not conducive to keeping a good buzz going. That was the problem with being a shape shifter. Nothing stayed in your system for very long.
When she heard Caine knock and ask if she was coming to dinner she sighed. She wanted to say something along the lines of hell no. Maybe tell him to fuck off. But she did owe the guy, and he was genuinely nice unlike his brother. Besides, it couldn’t hurt to eat something and see what this feast was all about. Then she grinned as she realized this would also give her a chance to bug Lex some more. He was so easy to mess with. Rather fun really.
She got up and opened the door, her eyes clear and obviously no longer intoxicated at all anymore.
“Sure I’ll come down.” She said, smiling brightly. She was rather kind to Caine. Not something she normally was to anyone.
“You don’t think your brother will mind?” She said sweetly, coming out of her room and shutting the door and locking it behind her. She thought Caine was nice and all, but she wasn’t going to just leave her room unlocked.

| Caine smiled, glad that she was coming along. "Lex? No he shouldn't mind." "Mind what?" said Lex as he came back into the room. He shot Luna a dirty look, having not forgiven his embarrassment at her hands."Luna's going to be accompanying us down to the feast." Caine said brightly. Lex's jaw dropped, and before his brain had any say in the matter, he said "But Caine... she's EVIL!?"
There was a brief pause, in which Caine smacked his forehead with his hand. Then, more than a little irritated, he shot a very severe look at Lex which said, in not so many words: Lex, she is my roommate. MY roommate. Not yours! If you don't like it, you don't have to come. And as she is my roommate, and since she actually seems relatively nice, I would rather make friends with her than alienate the person I have to live with! If you don't recall, I also had a recent brush in with a bucket of ice water, and am a little ticked off! I'm not going to have my first day of school and my birthday screw up because my OLDER brother decides he wants to act like a child! For Christ's sake, you're the OLDER brother!Lex gulped and returned the look with a nod.Taking a deep breath, Caine smiled. "Ok then, shall we?" Lex, who was closest to the door, opened it grudgingly, and with a smile that looked more like a grimace, gestured for Luna to exit first.
I don't care what Caine says, I am not walking with her behind me.

| Luna smiled sweetly at Lex daring him to contradict his pissed off brother. There was just something about the guy that made her want to mess with him. Maybe it was the cocky way he had talked to her when he has so rudely awaken her, or the fact it was obvious he hadn’t been sorry at all. Or maybe it was just that she liked seeing his dumb face pissed off. Either way, she wasn’t done with this boy, not by a long shot.
“Why thank you Lex.” She said politely, and actually sweetly, taking him off guard.
She walked through the door holding her head high the scent of roses following her out the door. The entire way down to the dining hall she was sweet as ever, talking to Caine about their dorm and their various eating and sleeping habits so that living together would be easy and painless. When they reached the hall it was to see Davon and his friends standing around, waiting to go inside. It was like she was a lamp and the boys moths. The moment they saw her, identical grins went over their faces, though it was Davon who said anything.
“Hey! You made it! I thought with all you drank earlier you wouldn’t come down for dinner.” Luna didn’t see Lex’s reaction or Caine’s for that matter. She was paying attention to Davon, who obviously hadn’t started the party they had all been talking about earlier. Must be planned for later that night.
“Oh hey Davon. Nope stuff like that doesn’t stick much to me.” She replied haughtily, though with a smile on her face that made the boy laugh.
“Good to know.” He said, winking, which made her laugh outright.
“Yeah. Good luck getting me drunk enough.” She said bluntly, making some of the other guys blush but only made Davon laugh all the harder.
“Damn, you figured out my plan. Oh well, back to the drawing board. You sitting anywhere yet?” He asked, very obviously flirting with her.
“Actually I was gonna sit with my roomie. Its his birthday after all.”

| The entire walk down to the main hall, Lex had been on edge. His first impression was to distrust Luna and that she was, in all essence, evil. But that impression got mucked up when she was polite to him, and the more he listened to her and Caine's conversation, the more he felt as if they had just gotten off on the wrong foot. It was like there was something in the air, calming him, and letting him think a little more clearly.
Maybe she really isn't that bad. I mean, maybe I misjudged her. I did wake her up pretty suddenly after all.
Those thoughts were interrupted however when she started talking to Davon, and in a sudden flash of anger, they all melted away.
FOUL SEDUCTRESS! DAMNABLE HARLOT! TEMPTING HARPY!
At Luna's last proclamation, Lex stepped forward, standing a little too stiff with his fists at his side.
"Hey Davon! Yeah, she's sitting with us, so it looks like your out of luck this time." His nostrils flared a little as he said it. He didn't know why but for some reason he had gotten very mad, very quickly. He tried telling himself it was because he was protecting Davon, or because she was pure evil sent to disrupt his life, but that didn't seem right. From somewhere, deep in the back of his mind, a little voice told Lex that he was angry because she was so readily flirting with Davon, when she turned him down in seconds.
Lex punched that voice in the face, hit it with a sledgehammer, and then ran it over with a car.
Despite Lex's agitation, Davon responded cooly, flashing a grin. He either didn't notice or didn't want to show it in front of Luna. "Hey Lex! Sounds good. We can make it a party, get to know each other a little better!" He moved a little closer to Luna, obviously more interested in her than Lex.
"No Davon, you don't understand." said Lex taking another step forward. "It's my brother's birthday and we're sitting with him for the feast. Just the three of us."
Davon looked a little surprised. "Your brother? Wait, they let him come back?" He said it with a bit of a chuckle before realizing that Lex was nowhere near a joking mood.
"Yeah, he's back. Why, you got a problem with that?"
Davon backed up a step at the look in Lex's eyes, which had already started to change to red. "No Lex, relax. Look, I didn't mean anything by it. It was just a little joke. See, harmless."From the start of the whole conversation, Caine had been trying to sink into the background. He always felt a little out of place at big school gatherings, and he felt even more out of place when he was with Lex. When Luna had started talking to Davon, Caine had blushed at their forwardness, and then when his brother stepped in, he backed away completely. Caine wasn't the type to cause trouble, but he didn't always feel like stopping his brother's either. As he was trying to melt away, Caine accidentally walked backwards into something. Turning around, he made the unfortunate discovery that that something happened to be a rather burly 5th year that was at least a foot taller than him. "S-s-sorry." Caine mumbled out practically inaudibly. The student ignored Caine's apology, and responded by pushing him to the ground. "Watch where you're going twerp!" With that he laughed, joined by his friends who were standing near by. Then, he looked a little closer at Caine, recognition growing on his face. He turned to his friends, laughing some more. "Hey guys, look who it its? It's the Normie! Ha!" He stepped towards Caine, pushing him back down as he tried to get up. "I wonder why they let you come back Normie? You think it's because they feel sorry for you? Ha!" With that, he bent over, reaching to grab Caine by the scruff of his collar, but he stopped when he heard a yell. "Hey, you leave him the hell alone!"
Lex was walking over, rage glowing in his eyes. He had completely forgotten about his conversation with Davon the second he saw Caine on the ground. Now the only things in his world were his brother, and the hulking piece of meat that was a threat.
The 5th year looked up, a little confused. "What's the matter Marcos, he your boyfriend? Ha! Coming to help your little asspal?
Lex ignored him, if he even heard what he said. He lost himself in the fire, his blood burning up inside him. The air around him shimmered as the heat began to waver off of his body, twisting around his hands and fingers, and he let out what could only be called a growl. "I swear, if you lay another finger on him, there won't be a body to identify when I'm through with you."
