The Dark Alchemist

Brent frowned, tapping his knee as the train rattled on with an annoyed look pasted on his face. How ridiculous. Being called to court simply for his ancestry.

He looked down at the court summons in his hand and for a moment. He had been in Rush Vally to get his knee fixed. Apparently someone had spotted him and decided the wise thing to do with an Ishballan in town was to summon the authorities. How kind.

None the less, he had a solid defense and woudl respond to the court professionally. He had no ties to the Ishbalan religion. He was an Alchemist. And a damn good one. He had his documentation of adoption with him in a brief case. Raised in a small mining town just west of Grettun. It was utterly preposterous.... And what was worse, he had patience waiting for him back in his town.

As the train rattled to a slow halt at the Grand city he stood up, grabbing his things. A wide brimmed hat on his head to cover his red blue eye and white hair. If any judge doubted him after seeing him- well... they would be insane.

[I'm thinking he gets shafted into having to serve as an officer to avoid a sentence]

Brent followed after him, two of his strides amounting to one of the elder mans. "It would have been nice if they haddnt scheduled it at all." he said honestly, feeling comfortable enough with the man. Not that brent was a small guy, just slender and quick. Just shy of 6 foot tall last he had checked, and what was after his knee insident.

"Don't most Officers have Auto's now?" he inquired, his voice holding no accident or rudeness. He was mindful of his tone.

To his knowledge most high ranking officials had cars now-a-days, though eh had only been in one once. He had to admit they were useful. you got to where you were going quickly and didnt have to worry about the weather very much.

The man chuckled at the subject of cars. "Well, yes. However, that car that I was assigned was broken into by my daughter, who then hit a light post because she has had no driving experience before then. And the courthouse isn't very far from here, there really is no use for fuel wastage." he looked over at the younger male and smiled. The courthouse was now visible from where they were and he stuffed his hands into his pockets, giving a nod.

"I agree, I would much rather be off doing something else. No offense to you, I just think there really is no point in trialing you because of your race. But the higher ups have their own ideas, even if the rest of us don't understand them most of the time."

He frowned shrugging. "Wars have been fought over less.... I dont want anyone to do something rash because I turned down a court hearing." he said honestly, looking at the court house as they walked. It was huge! All the buildings he was used to were small almost shacks compared to the cobble stone of the city.

He tried to keep the typical farm boy awe off of his face as he looked around Central.

He nodded. "At least you're smart about it." He added, slowly climbing up the steps of the courthouse. He opened the door, holding it until the ishbalan boy was inside and closing it behind himself. There were officers stationed within the courthouse, nodding at him when he entered and he did the same before he lead the teenager down the hall, toward the room in which the trial would be held. "Are you ready?" He asked, stopping in front of the doors. He didn't want to overwhelm him, and they still had a few more minutes if he wanted to relax and prepare himself before the trial.

"Yeah." he said, though didn't sound so sure. "As ready as I'll ever be anyway." he murmured.
