Hunting for Hatred

Izrael nodded, details from the briefing coming back to him. The demon had looked rather large, barely containing itself within the human body it took over. For a large demon taking over a small human female, it meant the demon was probably not very strong at all, and could only conquer the spirits of those who were physically weaker than it was. A man at the same height would probably be able to best it simply because he was physically strong enough. Which was also why the demon kept getting exorcised. It also needed a body that was easier to enter, one that already had accepted God and was particularly in tune with the spiritual world would make an easy target, hence the exorcisms.

Without knowing what the demon was, the people would have been strong enough through their own blind ignorance to keep it at bay. However, the demon was using their spiritual connection to enter the host, and the exorcisms were simply the result of the host being in a highly religious setting. Priests notice the off behavior, the host figures out what’s going on, either way eventually an exorcism is called and since the demon has tied itself to the host the only way to free itself before being sent back to hell was to kill its host so it could escape.

Weak, with only a slight amount of intelligence. The worst kind of demon to deal with, though the easiest to defeat. They were more afraid for their lives then exposure to humans, which meant Guardians needed to be extremely efficient when taking them down. That chance was now lost to Izrael since he had already shown himself. This could get very messy very quickly.

The question was, where would the demon go? The host would be dead by now, discarded in the demons hurry to disguise itself in a different form. It would have to follow the pattern however, finding a small religious woman to inhabit.

“Where’s the nearest church?” He asked suddenly, coming out of his thoughts abruptly.

Izrael didn’t wait to explain. Just started walking. St Paul’s huh? That would be the perfect place for the demon to pick another victim and leave its current body to be found later. At this time of night there wouldn’t really be witnesses either, only a few penitent souls coming to pray. He wasn’t worried about the occult shops. They would merely be a distraction since the people that usually frequented such places didn’t fervently believe in all of this like highly religious people did.

“It’s going to the church.” He said simply, when he felt Ester’s presence beside him yet again.

((HAHA I posted!! Its very rough around the edges so bear with me. I got to get back into the flow of things.))

Izrael ignored her question as he surveyed the church, his keen eyes quickly taking in the surroundings and the many penitent worshipers. Each of their aura’s were clean, at least of demon taint, and so he sat down in one of the back pews and immediately began to pray, or so it would seem to anyone looking at him.

His only hope of catching this demon now before it could take another vessel was to make sure that it didn’t know he was already here. So with his hands folded serenely before him, he looked upon the crucifix with the Holy Son. He never could quite understand why humans would worship this image of Christ, considering the tragedy that was entailed within it. Then again, humans were always embroiled in some kind of tragedy and seemed to thrive in that kind of environment, considering most of the worlds tragedies were human creations. After all, it was humans who had brought about the Holy Son’s death in the first place, taking from the world the only damn Seraphin who truly wanted to do something good for mankind.

Yup, Jesus Christ was no son of God as the humans understood it. Merely another of the Almighty’s elite, albeit one with a very close relationship with Him. Izrael wasn’t sure he’d ever truly understand humans, nor did he think he’d ever want to.
