| | It is said that soldiers sent to war at this time, if having survived in the war, developed strange habits and visions when they returned. Peculiar stories were told, filled with fabulous beasts that could be human one moment and the next become ferocious animals. It was said that they would assist you during your direst hours and then suddenly disappear out of sight, leaving naught but a memory in one's mind. And what of these half-human half-beast creatures? Even the most respected and seasoned soldiers in the military cannot explain it. No evidence was ever found to make true these tall tales, but one thing is for certain; Nothing is as it seems to be anymore.

Kazumi wandered through the crowded halls patiently, briskly making her way back to her office. It was passing period for the students of Trinity High School, and each student was hurrying to their next class. Kazumi nodded to one of the kids as they waved to her in greeting, and she continued along her way, ever so slightly picking up her pace. Major Hunt needed her to return to The Base as quickly as possible, thought Kazumi wasn't surprised. It was probably another problem with the system, or maybe just another tiny mission that he wanted to assign especially to her. He favored her like that.
"Either that, or maybe the new weapon maker has finally arrived. Since the retirement of our previous weapon maker, we've been a little short on supplies." She felt for the key that was hanging around her neck and unlocked her office door, then grabbed her things before making her way over to the transporter outside.
--At The Base
Kazumi knocked on the door of the Major's office and slowly entered with a bright smile upon her face. "I haven't seen him in awhile and-" she thought to herself, losing her train of thought as she realized he wasn't in there. Instead, a young man stood beside the window, gazing out at the view from the office of The Base's garden. Important herbs were grown there, and the Major's wife was in charge of the whole ordeal. Kazumi shut the door quietly behind her and eyed the man curiously. Was he the weapon maker? He looked awfully young. But then again, Kazumi was only eighteen. She was one of the youngest agents there, besides Trixie. The man hadn't noticed her yet, so she just stood at the door, unsure of what to do.
ooc: Okay, this is based in futurstic Japan where there is an underground organization called FERAL that works for the government. It consists of humans that were born with a mutated gene, called the 'A' gene, which allows them to transform into an animal--their familiar. Open rp, anyone can join, though there may only be one of each type of animal. Kazumi is a wolf and Trixie is a fox, so those two are off-limits. Anything else is fine! Enjoy!

A normal family. That was all he had wished for his entire life. Just a normal family with a loving mother and a stern father. Someone to tell him not to play with knives, and kiss him when he made mistakes.
Instead Taka had grown completely alone and isolated, living within the confines of the military base his entire life. He had been bred from a young age to be a weapon himself. He was swift, fierce, and if you saw his eyes in battle, you would not live to see them ever again. He was also extremely intelligent, his mind as swift as his feet. For all of these attributes, it was probably the reason the boy could turn into a falcon.
Taka was renowned as one of the best weapons master in the entire outfit, because he could wield anything, and make pretty much anything as well. Recently they had told the nineteen year old boy that he was being transferred to take up the post of weapon maker at another outpost.
Such a position was not distasteful to Taka, though he himself preferred the freedom of being a warrior then simply a weapons maker. However, he sincerely doubted they would ever allow him to fight again now that he could efficiently make any weapon known to man, and had invented a few of his own at his tender age.
And so he found himself waiting in what he assumed was the major’s office when someone walked in. It took him a moment before he turned from the scene outside the window. The garden was so beautiful that it was hard for him to turn away, but when he did a new sight took his breath away.
“You are quite beautiful.” He said lightly, the thought that such a comment may have been inappropriate never crossing his mind. Growing up amongst weapons did not make for good teachers in social etiquette.

She was beautiful? Kazumi's cheeks immediately flushed at his words and she cast her eyes downward, unable to meet the man's deep crimson ones. Such strange first words! They had caught her off guard, and she struggled to regain her composure before the stranger.
"I-uhm, thank you," she stuttered, finally managing to release the words from atop her twisted tongue before forcing herself make eye contact with him. Just who was this man? And where was Major Hunt? He was quite charming, to say the least, and she found herself captivated by the friendly tone of his voice and the breathtaking smile that decorated his face. There was a certain wildness to him, though, but that was to be expected. Anyone who had found there way to this base had the wild gene in them-- the 'A' Gene, as it was more formally referred to.
"May I ask, though, just who exactly you are?"

| Taka highly appreciated the blush that adorned the girl’s ivory cheeks. He hadn’t exaggerated when he had spoken, for she was rather striking to him. The question had barely left her mouth before he said lightly,
“I think I’m the new weapons maker here. Though without the major here to verify that I cant be certain of anything.”
His face broke out in a wide grin then. Rather than making him look stupid however, the smile only accentuated his fine features, and his eyes seemed to penetrate through her.
“Oh, my name is Taka by the way.” He added, running his hand through his messy hair. | |

"I'm Kazumi," she murmured, the same shy blush creeping across her face at another one of his smiles--causing her to turn away in embarrassment. "It's, uhm...it's very nice to meet you," she struggled once again, and she silently chastised herself for acting so foolish in front of the new weapons maker. What a first impression she was giving! At the thought she let out a soft, hopeless sigh, though she kept her violet orbs glued to the ground below her.
"Major Hunt should return soon. He usually only leaves his office when absolutely necessary because of the enormous work load he has. Well, since his secretary quit and joined the medical clinic here. She took care of everything for him, and now that she's no longer here he can barely keep up with the fast pace of things," she explained, though she silently criticized herself once again for rambling on about something that wasn't important.
She felt the familiar heat rise in her cheeks for the third time, still not daring to look up.

Taka smiled and walked over to where Kazumi stood. For any normal man, what he was about to do would have never crossed their minds. Especially to a girl they just met. Then again, Taka was vastly unlike any man Kazumi would have ever met.
He stood directly in front of her and said lightly. “Thanks for the information.” Then he did the unthinkable. Though he had just met her, he took her chin in his hand and lifted her gaze to meet his penetrating eyes.
“Don’t look down. Your’s is a face that should never be hidden.” His voice was deep with the seriousness of his words, his eyes boring into hers. It seemed as if he was searching for something within her eyes, some secret that she may be hiding beneath her cool exterior. There was a spark in his eyes, as if he had found what he was looking for. All of sudden all that intensity in his eyes was gone, and replaced with a lazy smile.
He let go of her chin, and walked back over to the window to gaze longingly at the sky. His movements were graceful, almost to the point of obsenity since it was a man that held that grace. As he stared at the window, his hands leaning against the sill, he asked, "So what is your purpose here today?"

Kazumi instantly felt her cheeks burn at his touch, and her voice caught in her throat as she met Taka's piercing eyes with her own soft violet pools. The intensity of his gaze ceased the air to flow through her lungs, and she was left breathless and speechless by his surprising, if somewhat indecent, actions. As quickly as he had approached her, however, his expression softened and a friendly, carefree smile took its place upon his lips once again.
What a strange man he was...
She watched as he stepped away from her unmoving form and made his way back toward the window, his crimson orbs lifting and scanning the sky with a longing that tugged at Kazumi's heart. Her attentions returned, however, at the sound of his voice.
What was her purpose here? That's right! She had come to visit Major Hunt upon her return, just as he had requested of her. As a matter of fact, Trixie should have been there by now as well.
"Oh, well Major Hunt requested I pay him a visit once I had successfully completed my assignment," she explained, her eyes still fixated on the spot in the sky Taka was so focused on. What was it about the sky that filled his spirit with such emotion that it reached her own soul as well?

Taka nodded slowly as he digested her words. She had been sent here, although after her mission she was probably in need of a rest, for some further assignment. He frowned slightly as the knowledge that he was likely her new assignment processed through his mind. Even here he realized, they would do everything in their power to make sure he remained locked in a cage.
All his life they had made certain that he would never leave the organization. His natural ability with weapons and ingenious creativity when it came to inventing new ways to kill was invaluable to them. As such, freedom was not something that the boy had known, even though his soul longed for freedom more than anything else. When was the last time he had been able to spread his wings and fly in the open sky? He couldn’t even remember anymore.
And now they sent him to new place with a new jailer in tow. Another person to make sure with various excuses and reasoning that he would never see the light of day. Never fly with his wings spread wide. The knowledge burned through him with a fury, and resentment and anger was plain on his face as he stared at the slowly darkening sky.
Suddenly, a thought came to mind, and his face brightened considerably.
“Considering what a lovely day it is, we should enjoy the last bit of it should we not? I’m sure Major Hunt won’t mind considering the length of time we’ve been waiting.” As much as he currently resented the girl before him, he also didn’t want to leave her alone to deal with the Major when he returned to find him gone. If she truly was to be assigned to keep him caged, at least she can say she never left his side.

Kazumi cast her eyes downward at his words, knowing full well leaving before seeing the major was definitely not an option for them. Still, they had been waiting for a while...
No, she was sure he would be arriving within a few minutes. Major Hunt was never one to keep others waiting, especially those he had assigned a date to meet with. With him business came before his personal life, which Kazumi had heard numerous complaints about from his wife.
"I think it would be better if we didn't. My partner should be here very soon as well, and I'm sure Major Hunt will be here very soon," she murmured. Despite his previous words she was unable to look him in the eye again.
"Our meeting shouldn't take up too much time, however. Perhaps we can save our stroll for a later date?"

Taka was disappointed, but he hid it well under the smile. This was the response he was used to. The empty promise that he could go another time, and day after day the promise went unfulfilled. He had hoped that she would have said yes, simply because she would not know the parameters of any kind of bondage on him just yet. After they met with the major that would probably change.
“Of course.” He said in response to her question. He didn’t believe it would ever happen, but that didn’t mean he wouldn’t go with her if it did. He liked to think positively rather than with a negative light. If she did walk with him one day, then he would apologize for ever doubting her. If she didn’t, then at least he wouldn’t be too disappointed.
Either way, there wasn’t much else he could really do now except wait until that damned Major showed up. He really hoped that she was serious when she said that the Major was usually never late to anything. If Taka was always going to have to wait this long he was not going to be happy about it.
