Layout Thread

I thought I'd make this so we could all talk about the layout and I could post pictures and stuff. And we could all talk about what we think of certain things, ect. Here in about an hour or so, I'll be posting a sketch with a color palette. In the future, this could serve as a place to talk about changes people would like to see as well has layouts per season.

Okay! Here is some text to explain what you're seeing. Lets start with the areas in all black. These are just some place-fillers until we can come up with a more permanent solution. For the buttons/nav bar, I'd probably curve the under corners as well, and add just a slight hint of shadow and highlight. I found out I don't work today, so I can have more specifics up later tonight. The small text there says 'Sample, to be changed upon discussion'. I wanted to know if there was anything you liked about the current buttons and what you don't like about them. The banner sections speaks for itself.

The box lined in black is just a blue hue put over your current background, which has a nice texture that's interesting, but doesn't attract attention away from the main site.

The random blotches of color are just the palette I was thinking to use. The darkest colors would be for text and links, the mid colors would be accents, colors I'm hoping to employ for the banner and related graphics, ect. That very light orange is also for accent. The main color will probably be white or something almost white, if you'd rather some more color.

That's what I envisioned, what do you think?

Shall I take this as an okay to go forward with my ideas?

I like the idea of tabs. for the BG, I like the blue box, but none of the swatches. What about the icons? the Heart and Rose used for old and new posts. Thin you can whip up somethign new for those?

We used to change the site monthly, but I think every 3 -4months (seasonally) will do just fine. So the entire BG can change into something more summeresk if you know what I mean. Summer warm colors. and come September we'll add some fall into the works. December winter, April spring and so on :p

Okay. I'm going to take the next step in all this and do the banner, icons, ect. I'll then just kind of lay them over the site you have so you can get a feel for what it'll look like and we can go from there. I plan on applying the color scarcely, but I had chosen more summery colors leaning towards blue (Saph said she liked it). But I can change them if you don't like them on the model I'm going to build. From there, it'd be very easy to make modifications.

Alrighty. What's the max size on the banner and those icons?

IN order to complete this project, I will require the max specs from Saph, including that max file sizes. I'll need them for the banner, tabs and buttons, if at all available. Because I haven't received this information, I'd humbly like to ask for a week's extension. Thank you and I hope to hear from Saph soon regarding this issue. :3

yeeeeah... -_- Saph needs to get back to you on that, I dont think there is a max. That's what I gather anyway.

Perhaps when the layout is done, a signature banner can be made? Something to put in our signatures in other sites to lead people here? This place needs life, which means we need to advertise!

I could do that while I wait for the specs. If I don't have to work tomorrow, I'll just whip it up real quick.

Not to nitpick or anything, but isn't it a bit hypocritical to put 'Pure Creativity' in the banner when the artwork is not original in the least?

Why would that be hypocritical? It's an advertisement for the site, not an advertisement for the advertisement. And stock photos are used on a regular in my line of work. It's not like I just slapped some text on it, either. It's 16 layers of fun and adventure.

The layout isn't staying like this saph, I made it this only for now until Lea can talk to you to get the dimensions she needs.
